Yes, that's why you needed to download the polygon definitions; they are only referenced by code number (ex., Z55).

The actual reported events use a different scheme called NWS multilines that draw the actual bounds of the weather event (as opposed to the bounds of forecast zones).

You should use OHX, because nothing is being sent under the airport ID (except for a few Canadians sending Objects of the airport AWOS's). The callsign pattern I showed is for the forecasting offices sending forecasted severe weather zones; the real-time weather objects will use your radius filter.

If you're on the border between two field offices' territories, you would use a filter like b/ABC*/DEF* (with whatever is the three-letter codes for the offices).

Did you set that range on your APRS-IS port filter, or on the range exclusion filter? If you're not pulling it in from APRS-IS, it won't be there to be filtered out.

Also, you might want to use the buddy filter (b/sender*/sender*) to select the Internet servers corresponding to your local NWS field office. Those field office "stations" don't send position reports, so your APRS-IS server won't know if the field office is within 625 miles of you. For example, my QTH is near Philadelphia, PA, so I would specify b/PHL* to get all the variations of the Philadelphia/Mount Holly office (such as PHLSVR, PHLTOR, etc.).

Ok now I have the severe weather zones menu available and opening without the error, but I have no data. I set my filter range to 625 miles. I know there is severe weather in that range of me. What else did I miss

So the files need to come out of the folder they get unzipped to?
Also I believe the names of the files are slightly different, ending in 25 before the extension, does that matter? I will try this later today if I need to move the field from YAAC/tiledir/mz30** to just have the files themselves in the YAAC/tiledir

If you have downloaded and unzipped the NWS files correctly, these 12 files should be in the tiledir (along with any other ones you have separately downloaded for OpenStreetMap or USGS terrain data):

The first 4 are the U.S. county files (not the county warning areas), the next 4 are the coastal and marine zones, and the last 4 are the public forecast zones.

Hello,

I need a little help with YAAC. I am trying to get the shape files for NWS alerts installed but every time I try to view severe alerts I get a "There are no DBF files containing forecast zone definitions. Download them and unzip into your YAAC tiledir"

I have downloaded and unzipped the zone, warning area, and coastal shape files and extracted them all into the tiledir file folder and there error persists.

What did I miss.
