X6100 looses RX after trasmiting 16
Greetings from rainy San Salvador. A strange behavior from my Xiegu X6100. Good for documenting it at the collection of problems list with this radio. Today, went to a park trying to use my X6100 with an end-fed antenna. This antenna has been used before, no problems with the Xiegu tuner. First time it happens, my X6100 is receiving well, but whenever I transmit, when going back to RX, the RX goes down. It happens in all bands, all modes. As soon as I transmit anything, even for half a second, when I release the PTT or stop sending CW, the radio goes almost silent. No RX. The waterfall stops receiving. The only thing being shown in the waterfall are the birdies. Those are the only ones being shown. Nothing else. To get RX back, I have discovered that if I plug and unplug the external power plug, even with no power on that plug at all, then RX comes back. Also, it is doing this with Oleg's or with the original Xiegu system. I have the latest of both (Oleg's 0.23 and Xiegu V1.1.6). Whenever I transmit, the RX goes to zero. Have tried restoring to Factory Default to no avail. It continues to show this behavior. Any ideas of what could the problem be? Apart from this, everything works fine. Suggestions? Sending back to Xiegu from my country is not a viable option. We have services to receive from US but not the opposite way. Edit: Just discovered that, by simply touching the External Power socket with any metallic part, restores the RX in the radio. 73 Rob YS1RS

Xiegu X6100 hardware support - Spare components 7
May I ask, which address do you guys use to report problems or software issues? Have written directly to Xiegu for a hardware problem (need to replace SMD failed components) and have never received a response. Support is nil, zero, nada. I may be writing to the wrong address (the one on Xiegu's web page customer@...; tech-supp@...). Tks. 73 Rob YS1RS

Any hope of getting PL tones in the firmwares 6
Looks like the x6100 would be capable of repeater operation if it only had PL tones. I've seen some discussion they are possible or coming, any news on this front? -- Stephen AC2GW

What's the best latest firmware? 13
I haven't used my x6100 in over a year. I expected the official software to be updated by now to fix problems, I installed it, but it fails to set the time correctly from the ntp server, so I assume it's still buggy. So my question is what's the best firmware to run on this thing at this point -- Stephen AC2GW

R1CBU-speaker 3
Sorry if this has been covered before. When I plug external speaker in and switch SP mode to "Speaker" the volume drops to where it is difficult to hear stations with weakish signals even with volume at 55 and RF Gain at 100. When I switch to "Phones" it is much louder and easier to hear though audio quality seems worse. Could you tell me if this is working as designed and what the function of the switch is? Thank you very much, I really prefer this GUI to stock.

R1CBU - FT8 - No Output 8
I updated to 2.6 yesterday - all worked OK This morning I’ve tried FT8. On starting a CQ call I can see a full 5W output and good SWR. After a few seconds the output drops to zero. All other modes are working OK with full output on all bands. I’ve tried booting with another 2.6 SD and I still have the problem. SWR and PSU is fine. Any ideas please ?

R1CBU -- Will it work on the x6200? 3
Topic says it all... BTW, Kudos to all the R1CBU developers! It's presentation is beautiful! Wish there was a manual... Just asking--Don't own a x6200, current software/firmware is a little too raw for my taste. Paul -- AI7JR

R1CBU FT8 Application with POTA stations 4 #firmware #r1cbu #R1CBU-Firmware
Has anyone had any luck using the internal FT8 Applicaiton in R1CBU based firmware with POTA stations? From the picture attached, it seems like the software is calling "POTA" instead of the station when the station has added POTA preceding the call sign as you can see at the top of the screen. You can see at the bottom of the screen what it appears to be calling. Any thoughts or feedback? Overall I love the R1CBU based version. It's worked very well otherwise. I can sit in my car with a mag-mount and make contacts either via SSB or FT8.

No/low receive on X6100 2
Hello, Recently. my X6100 started having low RX (-122db noise or so) on startup. For a while, this could be remedied with a power cycle, but now that has stopped working. I've seen in a previous thread that this might be due to a stuck LPF relay, or the wires between boards controlling said relay. Does anyone have any experience with this problem? Thanks, Casey W7CLO

R1CBU - Cancelling an app once started? 3
I've been exploring R1CBU V 25 on my x6100. Nice! But I've run into a problem-- I press the APP button and choose RTTY. Bar at the bottom changes to RTTY options, but none are exit! So, even if I press the GEN button the RTTY window continues to be displayed. I think the same thing happens with FT8, don't recall for sure. Shutdown and reboot, continues to show the RTTY window. :-( What am I doing wrong? 73, Paul -- AI7JR

Hearing aids and radio 5
I am pretty sure that I am not the only one that wears hearing aids here, and I have a question for folks that have phonak hearing aids. My current aids are from Siemens, and I have an adapter that I can hard wire into the speaker connection on all my radios that gives me audio off the chip and not through the speaker. I get hearing aids from the VA, and my new set will be from Phonak, and I wondered what my options are to do the same thing? I appreciate any replies. 73, Gale Smith KD9OCL

Using R1CBU FT4/8 Instructions 3
Using the "on-board" FT4/8 functions works for making basic contacts, I like that. Is there a way to edit messages, create a custom CQ message, etc.? I'd really love to see a more "in-depth" user guide for the R1CBU software, other than just the brief description of buttons, etc. For example - other than connecting a GPS Rx Dongle to the radio, how does one accurately set the time - zero the seconds, etc. The functionality of the software is fantastic, but learning by trial and error concerns me, I know we're not likely to "brick" the radio from these menus, but having a better understanding of the controls would be helpful. I realize there's somewhat of a language barrier to overcome to create the manual in English, but I'm a stupid Amerikanski, and unfortunately I don't read Russian or Chinese, for that matter. I'm sure some careful planning and logic went into this development, I'd just like to understand it better. 73 de W0RDR

Current version download issue 4
I recently downloaded, from the Radioodditty site, Versions: App 1.1.9 and Base 1.1.8.. Everything seemed to go fine but I ended up with A= 1.1.9 SEP 14 (upgraded) and B= 1.1.7 SEP 4 (which was already installed). What may have happened? How to upgrade just base to 1.1.8. Thanks for suggestions! I should add: When performing the BASE upgrade, (proper version is displayed) the unit shuts down immediately after pressing the UPGRADE button and no BASE upgrade is performed. All else appears fine.

X6100 USB to Serial driver for Linux... 6
I have an EVOLVE III Maestro E Book duel booting Windows 10 / Mint Linux that I am currently using for WSJT-X with my X6100, the Windows OS connection worked fine but the Linux OS side of things was not working (same machine / cables / etc...). Looking closely at the the situation I was finally able to get things working with Linux, here is what I found: 1) When you plug the X6100 into a Linux computer it assigns the ACM drivers included in Linux and connects the ports to "/dev/ttyACM0" and "/dev/ttyACM1". 2) The standard ACM drivers do not have all of the functionality needed to do the USB to Serial communications with the X6100. 3) The company that created the chipset used on the X6100 has posted Linux driver source code on the GitHub: https://github.com/WCHSoftGroup/ch343ser_linux 4) In order to take advantage of the full chipset functionality (i.e. - talk to the X6100) I needed to download the source code and compile it, then install it on the computer. Instructions are included in a readme file with the source code but here is a summary of the steps needed: a) Download and unzip the source code. b) Open a console in the directory that contains the source code c) Compile the driver using the "make" command, you will see the module named "ch343.ko" in the directory if make was successful. d) Type "sudo make load" or "sudo insmod ch343.ko" to load the driver dynamically, this will allow you to test the driver. e) Type "sudo make unload" or "sudo rmmod ch343.ko" to unload the driver after testing it out. f) Type "sudo make install" to make the driver work permanently - I did this and rebooted, the computer now recognizes the X6100 when I plug it in. With the new driver installed I now see "/dev/ttyCH343USB0" and "/dev/ttyCH343USB1" in the device directory when I plug in the X6100, for my system it appears that "/dev/ttyCH343USB1" is the correct port to use. I have been able to change frequency and PTT the X6100 using FLRIG in Linux, I have also loaded WSJT-X and made several contacts. Keep in mind that when your Linux Distro pushes out a new Kernel version and you update to it you will likely need to reinstall the driver as the system will not automatically recompile / reinstall this driver when the Kernel is updated. If anyone else is having issues with the X6100 and Linux hopefully this information will be helpful. ================================================== Scott Cowper - KN6OEH Email:scowper@... New radio issue
Hello all. I just purchased a new x6100 from Amazon. I really want to like this radio, but I have had some difficulties with some of the hardware buttons. Can anyone tell me if these functions are customizable or if this is defective hardware? 1) MFK knob: when I press the MFK knob, it cycles through volume, squelch, and RF gain. This is the same function as pressing the volume knob. 2) Pressing the lock button (single press, not a long-press), it acts like I'm pressing the 4th button on the bottom row. So, on the main menu, if I press the lock button it will go to System Settings. If I am in any menu, it will assign the selected value to the MFK knob. I didn't want to send it back, but if this isn't a software selection, the device must be defective.

No power output 18
I was transmitting on ft8 at 8 watts yesterday. It seemed to be working fine. I stopped transmitting and left the radio on. After about 20 minutes I tried to transmit and it wouldn't put out any power. After that I turned the radio off. Let it cool down. Being that I was using ft8 at 8 watts I was checking the temperature of the radio. I never saw it go over 109F/42C. I have tried to reset the radio and also did a firmware reload. Still no power in SSB, CW or AM. Wonder if it could have blown something? Never smelled like anything burned up.

Volume knob not working 10
I just received my X6100. Everything seems to work except the volume knob that doesn’t work. If I press it switches to squelch and RF gain, but no adjustment is allowed. Anybody has same issue? Regards Alberto I2KBD

v0.25.1 displaying as v0.25.0 ??? 3
I have downloaded and installed v0.25.1 from GitHub. As the x6100 boots it briefly displays the firmware as being v0.25.0 not v0.25.1 I am a little confused. Have I installed the latest firmware? John. 2E0JJC
