It works. But I’ll do it even better especially for you in the next version. The next version will be the last. I've started working on my own DDC/DUC transceiver and don't want to waste any more time on the X6100.

QRP, DDC/DUC. ADC 16 bit, DAC 14 bit. LCD 5", case size 190x120x40mm.
The work is in full swing. The electronics engineer completes the circuit and layout of the main board. There is a design for the case. I'm writing firmware on a development board.

Re: New version 0.19.0 #R1CBU-Firmware

If Morse decoding is essential, you should maybe consider paying for a commercial Morse decoder.
There is also a very good Android app Morse Expert, and it's free.
I assume Oleg is developing his X6100 fw on his spare time.

Re: Navigating through the general settings menu

YouTube also has a couple of good video showing how to go through the key options.

Re: Navigating through the general settings menu

Did you already check the "Radioddity extended manual for the Xiegu X6100"? I am not referring to the normal Xiegu manual, but to the 130 pages extended manual produced by Radioddity.

If you click on "GEN", you activate the softkeys that are related to the GENeral menu, such as "Radio Setting1", "Radio Setting2", "Display Setting", "System Setting" and "Memory Edit". You "navigate" by pressing one of those 5 softkeys.

If you click one of the other 5 function-keys "APP", "KEY", "MSG", DFN" or "DFL".you will be faced with different softkey definitions.

Navigating through the general settings menu

I understand how to switch between editing a setting, and selecting a setting using the function knob and the volume knob. What I don't understand is the rest of the menus.
?
For example, I press the button and it says general settings menu. I don't know how to navigate the menu from there since there aren't any arrow keys or anything. I have tried to read the manual, but it is unclear and confusing.
?
So the settings that are not available through the function knob and the volume knob, how do you modify those?

Re: Should I really buy one?

I agree with Dennis. Get yourself a G90. If your concerned about the display size, Quantum SDR makes a nice display for these radios. The ATU in the radio is great and you can add the 100w amp to it if you wish.?

battery life vs operating mode

randy, k8zfj

has anyone observed a relationship between operating mode (cw, ssb, digi-modes) and battery life?

I'd expect digital modes put more strain on the internal battery vs others.

I ask because the reccently acquired, used 6100? doesn't seem to have a very long battery life ( about 3 hrs) before recharge is required. note only half dozen or so cw contact have been made using 3w while learning various functions? menus, etc?

back to earth - when will your CW decoder will work again?
To me it is essential. I am only in CW on air.
You did a nice programming at all.
Please take a look on the CW decoding section.
Thank you so much.

Re: New version 0.19.0 #R1CBU-Firmware

just on mine machine... sorry...

Re: New version 0.19.0 #R1CBU-Firmware

soory, can't understand the hype.
on my machin firmware hangs. CW decoder wont decode.
last realy running firmware is 0.15
so, what has happen?

Re: Should I really buy one?

Volker,

I am sure the X6100 will work for you.? I had one of the original X6100 and it did have issues and eventually died and Radioddity replaced it and I see the replacement works better.? I think much of the initial issues have been resolved although there are some features, mostly digital or bluetooth type not solved.? But for CW and SSB I think you will find the rig works well.? Only issue you will see different from the G90 is the power output.? I would recommend an external 13V power source, battery or supply, to give you the full 10W from the X6100.? The G90 at 20W would be even better.? The one issue with the G90 is the small display.? The X6100 display is much larger and shows more, but this is more of a personal preference, depends on you eye site.? You having a G90 you know about this.

As for an antenna I would recommend the JNCRADIO MC-750 PORTABLE HF GP ANTENNA.? It is an adjustable full 1/4wave for 20-6m and has a coil for 40m. See it at:

I have a JRC-12 and am not that impressed.? Has tapped loading coil and I have not been able to get much from it.

The X6100 and also G90 are about as complete QRP rigs you will find, they have about the all features one will find for the money.

I make use of the messaging capabilities and they work well. I have owned X6100 since Aug of 23, use it for CW and have had no problems. I also own and use a KX2 and a SW-3B.

I use random wire antennas, and I have a portable/walking whip antenna (of dubious quality).? The battery not flashing when charging and the battery indicator not going from green, to yellow, to red bothered me at first; I got over it.? For the money spent, I am pleased with its overall performance.

Re: Should I really buy one?

Volker,

Another happy owner here.? Keep in mind that the battery is only good for a couple hours depending on how you operate.? A homebrew, broadcast band filter cleaned up some problems at my home QTH and improved reception.? Easy, cheap addition if you don't want to buy a commercial one.? A little attention to charging the battery and turning charging off when operating from a 12 VDC power supply goes a long ways.? I use a 12 VDC voltage converter even when operating off of external LiFePO4 batteries and haven't had a heat issue.? No additional heatsinks or fans here, either.

I also have QRPLabs QDX and QMX radios built from kits.? They're absolute works of art and I wouldn't trade them, but they're somewhat different beasts in my QRP/QRP+ world.? If I had to pick only one .... hmmm .... probably the QMX.? That's due to my operating preferences more than anything.? The X6100 has a lot of bells and whistles that the QRPLabs radios don't have.? The internal tuner, battery, and alternate firmware choices three examples.

All that said, it does appear that lemons squeeze through Xiegu quality control occasionally.
