Oleg,

When you find time to update the patch, it would be worth considering there are a few of us it seems willing to adopt the project to some degree and try to further the firmware whilst you focus on your new build. If you are able to put together a brief description of the toolchain and repository relationships, I think you would be doing the entire community a huge service.

This question has already been raised here and I answered why I won¡¯t do this.? During the entire development period, only two people assembled the firmware on their own.? And not one of them asked a single question.? I just found out that they did it.? All sources are online.? You just need to set a goal and achieve it.? But as experience shows, almost no one really needs this.

Oleg,

If you are able to put together a brief description of the toolchain and repository relationships, I think you would be doing the entire community a huge service.

Also, in the spirit of open source, that would eventually possibly lead to new features being created suitable to integrate into the BRASS TRX... That is the beauty of open source I guess. So, whilst I think focussing on BRASS is of course the obvious option for you, the x6100 and most probably 6200 community can perhaps add value to BRASS by furthering the x6100 R1CBU firmwares.

Oleg,

Thnx for your great iniative and immense effort. I hope others will be able to continue on your work with forks of the original R1CBU firmware. They will be standing on your shoulders!

Hi John,

Agreed, a little reference information for the repositories would be a very welcome contribution. I have started to run through the LVGL docs and Oleg's src code.

Your email is timely ¨C I was preparing to send one out myself.

The VFO ¡°auto-acceleration¡± is very nice!

I just tried using the FT4 mode (RX and TX) at lunchtime and ran into issues ¨C I¡¯m curious, has anyone else gotten it to work regarding transmitting? It decodes FT4 fine.

When I use the ¡°auto CQ¡± function, it appears to transmit fine ¨C but, upon ending transmission, the ¡°app¡± crashes, and the radio returns to normal ¡°CW¡± mode.

If I try to answer someone¡¯s CQ, the app doesn¡¯t crash ¨C but it also doesn¡¯t appear to be outputting any power by looking at the PWR/ALC levels ¨C yes, I¡¯ve got the power level set to 5 watts.

?

I verified on PSKReporter that I wasn¡¯t generating any FT4 signals ¨C at least none that were picked up.

Subject: Re: [xiegu-x6100] New version 0.20.0 #R1CBU-Firmware

?

Thanks Oleg for all the great work. This firmware has been my favorite features of the radio.

I've been using this new version since you announced it, and the acceleration on the VFO is nice.
I'm also enjoying the auto-leveling of the waterfall and spectrum.

Now for my bugs and observations so far:

* With the intro of the auto-level, I removed min-level, max-level from the MFK,
? but it seems min-level is still bound to the MFK knob (and active) on power up.
? Once I click the MFK, it exits min level, and then it's gone as one would expect.
* clicking the Band buttons, sometimes it gets stuck below the 40m band:
? going up cycles back down to a lower band. I needed to spin the dial to get back above
? the 40m band. That's not reproducing now, though.
* You had previously suggested bands would be editable, but I guess it didn't make the cut this time.
? I'd find that feature really helpful, since your bands don't completely match up
? with my region, and it would help me immensely stay where I'm supposed to stay
? for my license.

I know you don't intend to do any more work on the project.
I've looked at your source repos a bit, and it seems x6100_gui needs another (buildroot?) project,
but I'm not sure which project it is.

REQUEST: As a final bit of work on the project, would you be willing to describe how you build the image?

* source repos & branches to checkout
* how they're connected to each other
* maybe much of this is described in the other projects needed to get x6100_gui going?

Thanks again for everything!

Thank you for your awesome job and dedication!

If you could combine Wolf RS-998 and the X6100 I would buy it!

The original FW for X6100 can be CAT with N1MM+ like so:

DEV USB Port

COM LOWER port.?

N1MM in IC-7000 mode

19.200. n,8,1

DTR: ¡°Always OFF

RTS: CW

Rest default

is that possible with your 0.20 FW?
I can not get it to work.

73 and looking foward for your future projects.

Re: New version 0.20.0 #R1CBU-Firmware

Oleg,

I sympathize with you completely.

Probably a very high percent of the folks here thinks programing their radio is copying your code, putting it on a SD card and seeing a different display.

But there is a smaller percentage of us that respect the skill and perseverance required to do what you have done on the X6100.

I know your work in reverse engineering the software in this radio is remarkable and inspiring a few of us to ask ¡°why can¡¯t I do this¡±?

We are amateurs, and have to learn ¡°how¡± in a most difficult way, usually alone.? We read books, articles magazines and we learn from folks like you. ?

That is why I am compelled to write this note openly to you ¡.¡°don¡¯t stop¡±.

Look at it this way if Xiegu is on your radar, think of all their orphaned radios you are keeping in the fray partially negating the Xiegu attitude of designing, building and selling disposable radios.

In my opinion it would be a tragedy to you and the collective us to stop experimenting with this radio.

Hello!

I am no longer satisfied with the quality of this transceiver. I am not happy with development for a device that is based on closed code. I don't want to waste any more time on this.
I decided to suspend firmware development for the Xiegu X6100 and develop my own transceiver in which these shortcomings will be eliminated.
If Xiegu is suddenly interested in continuing my work, I am open to communication.

Fixed:

  • Feedback when playing audio
  • Fixed bugs in QTH window

Added:

  • Auto level for waterfall and spectrum
  • Speaker mode settings (in Vol:2 menu page)
  • Acceleration of freq change (None/Lite/Strong)
  • Callsign settings
  • FT8/4 transmit (Limit 5W)
  • Voice assistant:
    • Quick settings in Vol:4 menu page
    • 4 voice options
    • Less intrusive voice assistant
    • Custom action for switch voice mode (default long DNF)
    • Custom action for speaking battery voltage (default long DFL)
    • Speaking HMic direct freq enter
