Re: x6100 Com ports not seen on my PCs.
Regarding the Max voltage mentioned by Xiegu, yes, it might work above 13.8 Vdc. but the radio will run hotter. I wouldn't trust the Xiegu Max specs.? The 11.0 Vdc, is just to make the radio run cooler. It will still give you 10W but with less heat and less electronic stress for the components. What a few of us have done, it that we use a small device called Drok Charging Module. You put in 13.8 and you can adjust the output down to 11 or less. It helps keeping down the heat. It is very cheap and helps a lot. Make sure you order the case of it, if you want to try it.. In fact, the internal batteries in the Xiegu, only will give you 8 volts or less. That's why you only charge them with the original charger that came with the radio. If you charge them with 12 Volts, your batteries will charge, but won't last long. For you guys, in the US and/or Europe, it is easier to order a new radio when this one dies. You get a new one in 3 to 5 days. Warranty issues? no problem just send it back for repair/replacement.? For me in YS, it is not easy. Even if I have active warranty for a
radio, to send the radio for repair to China or the US/Europe is so
expensive and takes a couple of months.? No way! I try to take care of my
radio as much as I can because for me, this is like a trip with no return. 73, Rob YS1RS

A lot of information, thank you Rob.
Looks like the replacement board will not solve my problem.
I have been through the radio's belly and couldn't find anything visually.
I never use more than 3 watts when doing ft8 or I use an external amplifier.
As for running the radio while charging I normally don't do it but sometimes
might forget about it.
?
What is more a problem is the external supply of maximum 11v. Most ham
supplies output 13.8v as required by most Icom, Yaesu, Kenwood and others.
Even the Bioenno batteries have a voltage above 11v. Isn't the Xiegu spec shows
15v max?
The only thing on my 6100 that is a show stopper with the DEV port not working
is that I cannot connect a GPS. Not a big deal I can synch with the internet at
home. I don't do ft8 portable.

Re: x6100 Com ports not seen on my PCs.
The package being sold on Alibaba only contains the Baseboard BPF/Codec/PA/DC-DC//ADC, which is basically the radio and battery management section. Most of the problems are in the Baseboard. This section is the one that warms up a lot causing failures or damages to the components of that particular board. The package being sold by Alibaba does not contain the ATU board, and neither the display board (which is the one that includes the USB ports, display control and basically the CPU). The problem that originated this thread requires first check if still under warranty. If under warranty, obtain support from the seller or ask for a replacement. If not, I would open the radio and check all ribbon cables are OK, all cables properly sitting on their connectors and look for visible obvious damages.? If nothing found, then a replacement of the Display board will solve the problem. In this case, the probabilities that a used radio will have this board 100% OK are higher. Again, most of the operational failures are due to overheat in the Baseboard affecting the radio portion of the radio and not on the Display or ATU boards.. To avoid damage to your radio... Always use no more than 11 VDC when on external power for the radio.? Never use more than 5W when doing digital modes as that overheats the radio. Never use external power to operate and, at same time, charge the internal batteries. Always
charge the internal batteries when the radio is not in operation (off) and
always use the small charger that came with the radio to charge the internal batteries. Otherwise, the
internal batteries will overheat and affect their long life in the long run. 73 Rob YS1RS

I agree with you Rob, as I have been burned several times buying used radios. I did blame my bad luck and Murphy's law
as it has happen also with brand new radios purchased from official sellers? but it was covered under warranty.
What is not clear from the link you send me, does the package contain every boards for the x6100 or only the one
you needed?

Re: x6100 Com ports not seen on my PCs.
You are right Yvon but please read this: I considered buying another used one to swap parts between them, but then I remembered that my X6100, that I was repairing, was bought from "ePay"; sure it was sold on "ePay" (very cheap) because the radio had failed to the original owner or was no longer behaving correctly and sure no longer had warranty too. I noticed till later that it was behaving quite strange. At the beginning, I thought... Must be normal. Uhmm maybe problems with the Xiegu software... let's wait for a new firmware. I became a member of this group and then started to read all the flaws found on the original Xiegu software and blamed that as the reason of my radio going degrading more and more every day till it stop receiving. I had to unplug the radio, touch with my finger the internal pin inside the power connector and the radio started to receive again. Every time I press PTT the radio stopped receiving and had to unplug and touch again the internal connector.? That was not firmware!!! The radio had failed (a component ground problem?). So, the original owner sold it when he/she started to see the radio degrading. I though... No. I am not taking the risk buying a used one again. I better replace the whole card with a brand new one. I did, and was the best decision. The radio is now working perfectly with the original software, and even better with R1CBU version. I am very happy with it now. 73 Rob YS1RS

Re: FT8 station selection
FT8 app on X6100 can start transmit with not more than 1 (or 1.5) seconds after 15 seconds time slot started otherwise generating and transmitting message might exceed slot.
Also FT8 decoding support "incremental" decoding - some strong stations messages might be decoded 1-2 seconds before ending time slot. In theory - you have about 2-3 seconds to select CQ station and press MFK to start calling it without 2-slots delay. Otherwise app will wait for the next time slot, when chosen station will listen (30 seconds). --

eQSL & R1CBU
Had successful FT8 cq cntacts with Rc1CBU software. Removed the adi record of contact from the sd card and uploaded to the eQSL logging program.? Further checked the software to confirm the record was in my outbox of eQSL. No luck! so, cotacted eQSL support for some insight. The following is their reply
"
>>? ?Uplog is processed but not found in my out basket file - your logger is not recognized that is one thing : The author of the logging program needs to add it, we have a special form that he can use to enter the details, including header information so that the import routine here will recognize uploads from his program." I could probably enter the information manually with each qso but if automaticly it would be easier. Anyine with similar experience/solution?
