Re: New version 0.20.0

Hi Oleg,
is it possible to add some driver to the SD card to support USB wireless keyboard? As the FT8 only works with external keyboard, I tried the one I normally use (a wifi type mini keyboard with a dongle) but the radio does not see it or the mouse pad like the stock firmware. Wondering if it is possible to launch something on the SD card to support such a thing?? |

Oleg,
Thanks for all your time and efforts you put into the software. We could experience what can be done with decent coding on a mediocre radio. Sadly, this had to be done by the manufacturer and not by a third party one man job. Hopefully Xiegu will make a better job on the X6200. Good luck with the new "Brass" radio design. Let us know when it is ready for sale, and do post some videos about it. 73' Ron ON2RON |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Daniel, I also have tried to use FT8CN along with the X6100 without
success. Whereas the CAT works, drives the rig, freq changes aso,
the audio cannot seems to use either BT or USB. I can hear audio
from the X6100 loudspeaker and the FT8CN is getting it and
decoding it through the Android device's microphone, but this is
not a proper way to have the audio connected both ways. Also I have never seen any message on my Android device
alowing me to choose a port when plugging the tablet or phone (I
have tried different Android devices) to the X6100, as I have seen
some people mentionning it. Do you use a loop-back USB cable for the audio? I am using a
single USB-C to OTG USB-C cable between the device and the rig. That is why I was hoping the the stand-alone X6100 FT8 / FT4
would be be great to use, for POTA or SOTA activities. 73s, F5UJA Le 07/03/2024 ¨¤ 14:21, Daniel Baker a

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýUnfortunately, I have no experience with FT8 using Oleg¡¯s software on the X6100. I use the Android app FT8CN on my old Samsung Galaxy smartphone and have been very happy with it. I get that, aged 53 I have spent 1000's of hours coding for free for other people... it's what we do. I spent 100's of hours working on uSDX only for others to run with it.. The radio still stands and im happy my bit help some people. I wish you good luck with the BRASS project mate.

Hearing your intentions to stop development might promoted my curiosity about the source and build process into some genuine motivation. I can apply that motivation to rediscovering how the build works, but as a lazy developer, I'll definitely start with other people's docs and experience. I've cloned a few repos, but only spent a few minutes trying to see how they fit together.
Can we get contact info for people who have already pieced together the build process? (We can probably start a new thread to collect the links and document.) |

During the entire development period, only two people assembled the firmware on their own.? And not one of them asked a single question.? I just found out that they did it.? All sources are online.? You just need to set a goal and achieve it.? But as experience shows, almost no one really needs this. 73! |

Re: New version 0.20.0

Oleg,
When you find time to update the patch, it would be worth considering there are a few of us it seems willing to adopt the project to some degree and try to further the firmware whilst you focus on your new build. If you are able to put together a brief description of the toolchain and repository relationships, I think you would be doing the entire community a huge service. Also, in the spirit of open source, that would eventually possibly lead to new features being created suitable to integrate into the BRASS TRX... That is the beauty of open source I guess. So, whilst I think focussing on BRASS is of course the obvious option for you, the x6100 and most probably 6200 community can perhaps add value to BRASS by furthering the x6100 R1CBU firmwares. Hi John,
Agreed, a little reference information for the repositories would be a very welcome contribution. I have started to run through the LVGL docs and Oleg's src code. Cheers Scot |
