Demo Thursday 2024-05-30
Good morning,
to support Hans in his demonstration, I wolud like to ask to enable / add the number 222 (Bernhard) in the Telebahn DNS. The hostname (bitmint) name resolution is checked and working since some time now. The cisco will start to work later today or early tomorrow. Appreciate your help and wish you a great day. Hi Bernhard, thank you for setting up your X.25 service.? I have tried to connect to your system using xotpad?with an explicit gateway, but that failed: mecipt-1 1010_% xotpad -g 22227100 Error: Custom { kind: Other, error: Os { code: 51, kind: NetworkUnreachable, message: "Network is unreachable" } } I also tried to connect to port 1998 on , but that timed out as well: netzhansa 1027_% telnet 1998 Trying 2001:4dd0:af15:dfcd:5e49:79ff:fe37:bcc8... ^C netzhansa 1028_% telnet -4 1998 Trying 78.34.235.229... ^C Are you sure that your firewall and the port forwarding is set up correctly? -Hans Am Di., 28. interesting to offer (other than telnet/tracert to dn42, or PAD to
two more identical routers...) On 27/05/2024 21.54, Hans Hübner wrote:

Hi Bernhard, nicely done, I can connect to your VAX using xotpad 22227500 - Is there a guest account? Cheers, Hans Am Mi., 29. Mai 2024 um 19:59?Uhr schrieb Bernhard Wulf via <groups.l3kbt=[email protected]>: Hans, |
Moin Hans,
should all be available since late yesterday. Guest Account plus ability to create your own account ... like on the other VAX connected to the Retro-Network. Do you still miss something you would like to see for the demonstration later today? Please let me know. Wish you all the best... Bernhard |
Hi Bernhard, thank you for setting up your VAX 4000/100A - I could log in successfully, and I was also able to make outbound X.29 calls.? By any chance, do you know how you set the DTE?address of your machine in VAX P.S.I.?? When I make outbound calls from my machine, the calling DTE address is empty, which is annoying.? Calls from your machine are made with the right calling address. Thanks, Hans Am Do., 30. Mai 2024 um 11:04?Uhr schrieb Bernhard Wulf via <groups.l3kbt=[email protected]>: Moin Hans, |
Hans,
that is one of the points still under investigation... still not solved, is also the PSI_MAIL (PSI%xxxx::username) and the missing accessibility the the CISCO. Experiencing a very long (minutes...) delay in XOT when connecting to my VAX compared to your's, any idea? I will check and report. Bernhard |

It seems that the connection is first attempted using IPv6 and if that eventually fails, with IPv4.? Maybe it would make sense to not have an IPv6 address associated with the DNS name that is used in the TELEBAHN mapping: has IPv6 address 2001:4dd0:af15:dfcd:5e49:79ff:fe37:bcc8 has address 87.78.134.96 -Hans |
Hans,
checked the NUA display and found the following... I'm logging in on my own VAX V10031 with $set host /x29 ownNUA and get this on ?SYSTEM ? _NVA12: ? ? ? 00000224 ?NVA12: ? (TELEBAHN.22227500) NUA is in Now to your EUGENE machine... $set host /x29 yourNUA the result is BERNHARD ?BERNHARD ? ? ?00000341 ?NVA13: ? (TELEBAHN.22227500) NUA is still in and back to my machine (now logging in as guest)... $set host /x29 ownNUA giving me GUEST ? ?GUEST ? ? ? ? 00000225 ?NVA13: ? (TELEBAHN.) NUA is missing Are you not sending the respective data? Did you ever saw your address on other X29 terminal connections? Will check in more depth (protocol analyser) the telegrams send and received during initiation of the communication. Bernhard |
Bernhard, I think that EUGENE is just not sending its own DTE address when making outgoing calls? - That is what I can see in the X25 call log.? I'm not sure how I can configure the outgoing address, though.? Some NCP magic is likely required. I can set the local DTE address successfully like so:?set ho/x29 23000300/local_dte=23000200 Anyway, not all that important, it'd just be nicer if outbound calls would not be anonymous. -Hans Am Do., 30.
