Can I substitute SAE 85W-90 for SAE 90
Finally getting around to changing the transmission and transfer case oil in my '57 4WD Pickup. The manual says to use SAE 90 GL-4 Gear Oil.? Problem is I can only find SAE 80W-90 or SAE 85W-90.? If they are substitutable, I read that SAE 85-140 is a little thicker than SAE 90, so maybe it will lessen the continuing drip.? Any thoughts?
Thanks, Fred |

Jay, I have no help to offer, but congratulations.? You beat me to it; I hope the engine will go into my wagon in a couple of days.? The machine shop sent me home with a tank to use compressed air to push oil through the engine before start up, along with gold
plated break in oil.? Staying with 6 volts-the gas gauge should be better with the "gas logged" cork replaced by a plastic float, and a new sender for temperature may make that gauge more accurate.? I took the time to fix little things that bugged me, rather
than feeling rushed about it.?

GOOD NEWS is i got the 54 truck running today. Starts and idles great. So I switched over from 6v to 12v and bought the 3 stunts for the temp, fuel and oil. Nothing reads when running and if you short out the sending units the fuel and oil only
go 3/4 of the way. Temp goes to end. Have half tank of gas and oil is pumping. New plastic tank and sending unit. Any ideas?

Re: Abi Update
Great new John! I can't believe it has been that long ago. Time sure flies. Show us some of her art sometime.
Rick Mc Osceola, Iowa '47 CJ2A Those of you that have been on this list for awhile gave me a lot of support and encouragement when my granddaughter, Abi, was dealing with cancer and I was making all those trips from So Cal to Tacoma to be with her. It's been about 9 years and she's 18 now so I thought I should give you an update. This week I was at the Tacoma Dome and watched her get her high school diploma from the Tacoma School of the Arts. Her health is good now and she has developed a real talent for art. I really appreciated everyone's support during that time. This is the result of all those prayers. Re: Contacting Mr. Stewart
About 6 years ago I contacted Mr. Stewart about getting his website back running again.? He said he was thinking about it? - but I don't think he has been able to as of this year.
My site is very limited but there might be something of use to you, Florencio. Cheers, Pavel up North |

Contacting Mr. Stewart
Hello everybody, my name is Florencio, from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I entered this group in an attemp to contact Mr. Robert Stewart, from Wisconsin.? Mr. Stewart used to have a webpage with lots of information about the OHC Tornado engine, but it seems not to be available anymore.? Some references found in Internet conducted me to Willystech.? I hope to have some luck.? Thanks a lot...
