The FSM sez not to take a torch to the frame, its apparently made of a
grade of steel called "SAE 950", maybe you can find the exact specs.

I have a 1948 pickup with a f head motor. The fuel pump inlet is
right against the motor. Can the fuel pump be clocked? It looks like
the top could be taken off and spun about 110 degrees

Actually, I have no idea. Had some welding repairs done to my frame but the possibility of it being heat treated never entered my mind and the welders didn't ask about it either. Don't recall

I don't believe that the frame is heat treated. If it was nobody would
