Fantastic! Here in Cle Elum, WA I drove my ‘43 MB in the parade. But the star of the vintage vehicles in my opinion was, oddly enough, also a CJ-2a that was, again oddly enough, also red. That guy had his two young daughters riding with him. Instead of throwing out candy his daughters threw out otter pops from his cooler full of dry ice.?

I need to up my game next year.

Every year I drive my '47 CJ2A in the Osceola, Iowa 4th of July Parade.? I
lead the horses (strategically placed at the end of the parade line) and two
of us throw out candy to the parade goers.? We threw out about 20 pounds of
candy this year and only ate a pound along the route.

I’ll look around here to compare prices. As you can imagine, in this area Willy’s vehicles are pretty rare.
The engine- Super Hurricane - runs like a top
New upholstery - - new glass- great brakes- steering great
doors are good but don’t close great and the gauges work except speedometer doesn’t work
Nice trailer hitch and the snow plow works great.

Anyway, it’s good to have that list in mind.
Thanks again
David

David, It's difficult to give you a straight answer.? Here are some considerations:
1? Are there comparable Willys vehicles for sale anywhere near you?? What are their prices?
2? Is the extra frame/chassis you mention in really good shape, all nicely painted.. will it impress?
3? Which engine does your Willys have - the Tornado six is most impressive imo.? Does it have a Chevy engine?
4.? What does the interior look like - would it horrify a lady?
5.? Other than being rusty, does the vehicle run well, instruments work, doors close properly, functioning brakes, decent steering etc.?
6.? Are you a "lucky man"?? My sister-in-law sold several cars to people over the 'phone.? In each case, the buyer offered her a premium price sight unseen, showed up on time and handed over cash!? I've never been that lucky.

Cheers, Pavel up North.

ps: about 10 years ago there was a very rusty "stakebed" version of your pickup for sale here in Vancouver.? His price was $5000, but I offered $500... no deal, as you would guess.

thanks so much! Great comments and no I’m not really a motivated seller.?
The first car I ever bought(what was I thinking) was a beautiful but unrestored ’53 utility wagon with a flat head 4 cylinder.?
Since then I’ve always had one so it will be strange not to have one sitting in the yard. On the other hand, there may be a time to divest and let someone who loves tinkering etc. have one.
Best,
David

You only need one "good" customer, someone who's eyes light up when he (unlikely she) sees your Willys.? I remember selling various Brit and Swedish sports cars - you could tell when the right prospective buyer showed up vs the ones that were only interested at the very lowest price.?? Here in a coastal city, very few people under 50-60 years old know anything about older vehicles.? When I take our wagon out once or twice a year, almost everyone who seems interested asks what year Toyota it is.? The reason I mention this is that the automotive world has moved on in young people's minds; they are more interested in the electronics of their new car than the mechanicals... you seem however to live in a more rural area, based on the pictures and so should have more luck. Hopefully, you don't fall into the catergory of "motivated seller" to use the jargon and can wait for the price you want.
Since you say the vehicle is really useful, with snowplow and runs "like a top", do you have a nice round figure in mind?? Say $10k?? What would a similar condition F100/F150 sell for?
Hoping you have success,
Cheers, Pavel.

Hi,
I’ve been lurking in the wings following along the many discussions about these wonderful vehicles.
Last year I found advice about rebuilding my transmission with some success and before that I built a new bed and refurbished (but not restored) the cab.?
At this point after carful consideration I’ve decided I need to let this baby go to another caretaker but I would love some advice about pricing for this vehicle.
Since I’m based in New England there was rust to deal with and the frame needed some help. On the other hand I do have a perfect frame from the utility wagon that I drove from New Mexico(what was I thinking).?
Here are some photos. Any advice is most welcome
thank you all
