Re: Classic Car Insurance?

Another aspect of the insurance thing:
If you carry higher liability on your? umbrella policy, it is a good thing to make? sure that your umbrella insurance applies after the limit on Hagerty is reached.? This may have another name or two. ? It is a higher liability policy, beyond legal limits,
that applies to cars, houses, and other things. ?? I added some to Hargerty to avoid a gap.
Also with them, they've split out as a separate item the towing insurance and other services associated with their club.? I decided not to do it, since I've never had a tow- which means now I will, of course.

开云体育If you go thru Hagertys online quote form you'll find that answer I think...? while I dont remember the specifics of what it asked (something about "if its stored in a public space" is all I think) I know it did NOT require a enclosed garage (unlike every other company of the 4 I tried)? I wonder if a shelter like tarps over pipe hoops would count as an enclosed space/shelter?

开云体育haha .. for sure. Mine is currently covered thru Geico, liability only tho and they wont do full... hence my searching...? And I've already had the experience where, years ago when I was test driving it to buy... my friend selling it said 'be careful the brakes are mushy.'... Im thinking ok.? Ill drive slooooow. Around the block I go... coast back up the incline into his drive way... crest the top...annnnnd.. "Try NO brakes"... fuuuuuu...ccc... Right down the driveway clear thru a 6 foot solid wooden fence stoppping 4 yards away just before smashing into his garage. Willys 1 Fence 0. Willys had but a mere 2" scratch on the fender. Updated '60s cluster gauge
About 7 years ago I bought a Taiwanese replacement "cluster gauge" from one of the big suppliers.? While the speedometer worked well the temperature gauge always read up at the top of the range.? I replaced wiring and the sender on the cylinder head (several times) with no luck.? Last year I received a pair of gauges from Kaiser Willys that works using stepper motors instead of the stone age heated bimetallic strip system.? These new gauges do not work at 5-6 volts like the originals - they work at 12 volts requiring no voltage regulator like the OEM units.
The new temperature gauge reads in the middle of the range using the stock Willys sender unit (160-170 thermostat in place).? So far so good - we'll see how long the new gauges last. The pictures show the new stepper motor temperature gauge front and back on the right compared to the one that came with the cluster gauge 7 years ago. |

Re: Oil for the old engine
开云体育I don’t know about leaking seals, I put Mobil 1 in the old 134 one time and went for a short drive. It looked like a mosquito sprayer behind me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pa4RwsiZUmI I saw this video on comparing shell rotella t4 15w-40 to full synthetic t6 5w-40. Very interesting and this guy does alot of these type comparisons. He ran it in a 45 year old ford tractor with no leaks. but the real interesting part is he sent the oil out to be analyzed. Shows the zinc content I believe even after it had been used. If that link does not work just google will synthetic motor oil cause seal leaks (look in videos) His channel is project farm.....good stuff Harry '52 pickup On Thursday, January 23, 2020, 11:36:57 AM CST, Dan Mulholland <mulhollanddr@...> wrote: I've got a friend, a retired mechanic, advising me that an oil that includes additives to protect the valve train is important with old engines; that these additives were removed from modern oils to protect catalytic converters.??
