Re: New Project: keyboard keyer

Good morning Murat.

Morse decoders are fascinating,?aren't they?? I tried my hand at decoding with the Morse Tutor, which is able to decode your straight key input fairly well.? ?I was surprised?how well a simple decoding algorithm can do.? ?Of course, the goal in that case was to teach Morse Code. if your fist is sloppy, then bad decoding shows the user that they need to improve!? A goal of a real decoder is almost the opposite: provide good decoding in less-than-optimal conditions, adapting to the code speed, quality, and band conditions.

Designing a real decoder is challenging indeed!? ?It is beyond the scope of my little keyer.? ?But, it would make a good project on its own.? ?
Thanks for the great idea, Murat.? ?

I hope you get the opportunity to try the keyboard keyer.? It is a lot of fun.

Hi Bruce,

I follow your work with great admiration and interest. You do very good projects and you document them very well. I haven't been able to try your projects until now because I'm too busy with other subjects, but this keyboard keyer project can trigger me.

Have you ever thought about adding a "morse ( audio) decoder" to this project? With an audio input and screen printing of decoded morse signals, this project could become even more perfect.
