------------------------

Please do your part and vote...nationally and ARRL.

Now, back to 160 meters. Winter is coming and that means much better propagation (proper-gation) and some very enjoyable QSOs on the gentlemans' band. Pass me the coke and chips.

(sorry if this is a duplicate message!)

?

?

As many of you know, I am running for ARRL New England Director. There is a lot at stake for all ARRL members.? The path the League is on right now is taking us in the wrong direction - you have surely sensed this.? I want to return to the ARRL board to change the course for the better.

?

Your vote needs to be registered in Newington by November 15.? Now is the time to take action!

?

Please check out my campaign website at??for all the reasons I am running.

?

Most New England Division ARRL Members are lining up to support me and a return to 'getting things done' at the League.? Check out this list of leaders who are supporting my?campaign - .? You will surely see people you know and respect on that list.

?

Already voted for my me?? There's still opportunity to influence others.? Spread the word, get your friends and club members to vote.?

?

Already voted for my opponent?? It's OK to rethink your decision. When you see beyond his glitzy campaign?and truly understand the whole story, it becomes clear that I can chart a better way forward. You can still help make this change by influencing others.? Let them know how important a vote for me is for the future.

?

We need every supporter to be a force multiplier.? So, spread the word far and wide with emails, in-person and Zoom discussions, social media and website postings.? Every vote counts, and every vote is needed in this tight race.

?

I very much appreciate your support and look forward to representing all of you in Newington.?

?

73,

?

CW for those who don't

To all:?
This weekend is presently hosting the largest SSB radio contest on the planet.?

I hope many of you are having fun and in the fray trying to work that last zone.?

CQWW SSB is a lot of fun with thousands of stations to work, with a very simple exchange, 59/zone#.?

But once the log clock hits, 0000 Zulu Monday, the bands will grow pretty quiet again.?

If you were operating the contest, for a couple of hours or all 48, once it's over I would hope you are saying "I had a great time and can't wait to do it again next year !"

If you said that to me I would reply "well CQWW CW is right around the corner starting on November 23rd".

But if your reply is "Can't do it, I don't know CW".?

If the op below, who has one of the largest station in the northwest, can learn CW and use cw SO CAN YOU.?

That CW button on your rig is an operating mode, not a "Can't, Won't" button !

I will be wearing my work clothes and combat boots. The place has been kept pretty orderly and neat, but housekeeping is always an on-going chore. I plan on doing my best, which means sitting in the big, high-back, leather chair and giving advice. Maybe I can mop the floor (or portions thereof), or polish the door knob. I'm pretty good at dusting keyboards and making sure there are no pine cones on the sidewalk. And, like I said, if anyone needs advice on whether to use a broom, mop or vacuum cleaner - I'm there to contribute.

Hi Folks,

Just a heads up that this Saturday is the Pumpkin Fest at the park - the lot will probably fill up quickly so the earlier the better if you plan to stop by. Im not planning on staying during the ¡®fest as I have some obligations to attend to - in the past we hardly had any pumpkin-related visits anyway. (If you WANT to stay anyway, let me know).

See you there!

PS - Im hoping to do a W1ORS inside fall cleanup the following Saturday 10/26.

Cheers and Happy Radio¡¯ing!

?

Good Morning All:

?

As I have announced, the CT ARES SET will take place Saturday morning, October 26.

?

The test scenario will be different from last year.? It will not be a weather event.? The incident will occur without warning so there will be no details until the Saturday of the test.? The test objectives are as follows:

?

¡¤??????? Evaluate capabilities to respond to an instantaneous (no warning or preparation) event.

¡¤??????? Conduct regional resource nets on local repeaters gathering information on participants able to deploy.? Aggregate information for each region and report to the SEC.

¡¤??????? Determine which local EOCs can be staffed with amateur radio operators and exercise their communications capabilities.

¡¤??????? Evaluate VHF/UHF communications on numerous local repeaters.? Evaluate HF communications statewide using 80 meters.

?

I've sent the DECs and ECs some detail about their assignments,

?

For you, our CT ARES members, there are three things to do in the run-up to the SET.

First, watch for further messages via this system as well as the Alert group.? I will be sending out a few more messages in the next two weeks.? Additional messages will be coming out on the 26th before 0900 hours.

?

Second, be ready to operate on your local ARES repeaters.? If you have HF capabilities we we also be testing that mode.

?

Third, be on the KB1AEV linked repeater system at 0900 hours on the 26th.? That will be our first general net.? Further instruction will be delivered during that net.

?

If there is not an EC assigned in your town and you have a relationship with your local EMD, most likely because you are involved with CERT Emcomm, please send me an email.? I'd like to talk about activating your EOC.

?

I hope you can all participate!? Looking forward to hearing you on the air!
