?

Good Morning All:

?

As I have announced, the CT ARES SET will take place Saturday morning, October 26.

?

The test scenario will be different from last year.? It will not be a weather event.? The incident will occur without warning so there will be no details until the Saturday of the test.? The test objectives are as follows:

?

¡¤??????? Evaluate capabilities to respond to an instantaneous (no warning or preparation) event.

¡¤??????? Conduct regional resource nets on local repeaters gathering information on participants able to deploy.? Aggregate information for each region and report to the SEC.

¡¤??????? Determine which local EOCs can be staffed with amateur radio operators and exercise their communications capabilities.

¡¤??????? Evaluate VHF/UHF communications on numerous local repeaters.? Evaluate HF communications statewide using 80 meters.

?

I've sent the DECs and ECs some detail about their assignments,

?

For you, our CT ARES members, there are three things to do in the run-up to the SET.

First, watch for further messages via this system as well as the Alert group.? I will be sending out a few more messages in the next two weeks.? Additional messages will be coming out on the 26th before 0900 hours.

?

Second, be ready to operate on your local ARES repeaters.? If you have HF capabilities we we also be testing that mode.

?

Third, be on the KB1AEV linked repeater system at 0900 hours on the 26th.? That will be our first general net.? Further instruction will be delivered during that net.

?

If there is not an EC assigned in your town and you have a relationship with your local EMD, most likely because you are involved with CERT Emcomm, please send me an email.? I'd like to talk about activating your EOC.

?

I hope you can all participate!? Looking forward to hearing you on the air!
