Help with building use?
9
I never got a good sense of how the building is used/signed up for/etc. I don't have a key so assumed it's off-limits to me, but is that the case? And if I can sign up to use the building, how is that done & what are the parameters? Is there a limit on the time that a single person can use in one session? Do I just put it on the calendar? Is it unlocked between certain hours? How much does the time cost? Obviously I don't know squat, but I'd like to know, er, at least a little squat. --Doranna

Amigos ASC ASCA Conformation shows this coming weekend Friday 3:00pm -Sunday 4:00pm in building
3
Hi All, Our Amigos Australian Shepherd Club is renting the building for our dog show this weekend. We will be in building starting at 2:00pm tomorrow and have competitors crates and grooming tables set up in building until 4:00PM on Sunday. There are out of town folks coming in for the shows and I would like a few of them to be able to be parked in the spaces nearest the door to the building as they will be working out of their vans to keep dogs cool in AC and have grooming table set up outside of van. We would like to reserve about 6 spaces near the front of building for the dog show if everyone would be ok with this. Please let me know your thoughts. We expect to have competitors coming in tomorrow between 2:00- 3:00 to set up and the shows tomorrow will run 3:00pm to 8:00pm. Saturday we will be using the building for shows 7:00am-5:00pm and Sunday 7:30am-4:00pm

New Parking Plan
2
Hello Valley Dogs! I’m Terri Wilder. I joined the Valley Dogs community last year. I host an agility practice on the field. I also trained at The Center, where the A+ Agility folks are joining us from. With the large agility community starting classes Monday August 5th, will come a much higher demand on our parking lot. I expect you will see 10 to 20 extra cars most of the day. We have a new Parking Plan, designed to help with safety and maximize access to parking. Please read over the document, here. The new layout is already marked with numbered space signs on the fence. To aid with the transition, temporary parking lines and cones will be in place Sunday. Valley Dogs Parking Plan - Critical Notes All parking will now be along the sides in marked spaces. NO PARKING ALONG BUILDING FRONT By parking along the sides we gain 4 extra spaces and make parking safer and quicker for everyone. Compact Only: means midsized sedan or smaller. We now have two ADA Accessible spots on the west side of the lot. Please reserve those spots for folks who need them and have a placard. Overflow parking on east edge of Perico’s lot Perico’s has graciously agreed to allow us to use the east edge of their lot for overflow Sunday-Thursday and mornings only Friday and Saturday. NO PARKING AT PERICO’S 6:00-9:30 PM FRIDAY OR SATURDAY Dogs need to be leashed at all times in the parking lot. Stay safe; it's going to be busy. Please keep the potty yard clean and always shut the gate behind you. This will be used by A+ Agility for egress to the south field. Parking is on a first come basis. Nothing is reserved other than ADA accessible spots.

A+ Agility at Valley Dogs Transition Update
Valley Dogs is excited to welcome A+ Agility to our wonderful facility! Agility classes will begin on the field in August, so there will be some equipment moved in and set up in the coming days to prepare the field for classes. Here is the current plan for moving equipment from The Center at Animal Humane (CAH) to Valley Dogs (VaDo): Saturday, July 27, take a load of equipment from CAH to VaDo and unload trailer into shed/field. Sunday July 28th 3:00pm, take a load of equipment from CAH to VaDo and unload trailer into shed/field. Wednesday July 31st 7:00pm, load all equipment still at CAH onto trailer. (This trailer load may be stored until Monday morning and then be taken down to VaDo.) Monday August 5, Time to be determined, meet at VaDo: Unload trailer into shed/on field if not already done. We are aware that parking may be a concern, but please rest assured that detailed information regarding parking will be provided prior to agility classes starting at Valley Dogs. We are grateful to Perico's for allowing us to use their parking lot for overflow parking. We encourage everyone to patronize their business…. Go indulge in a burrito or their delicious flautas as a token of our appreciation for their support! We understand that with change comes challenges, but the spirit of the dog sport community is strong, and making Valley Dogs open to the dog agility community is a great way to honor and respect Evi Fox’s dream for the field to be used for agility training. We will continuously assess how things are going and make necessary changes as appropriate. We appreciate your patience during this transitional time and are so thankful to you all for your support.

Valley Dogs Update from Tim
2
Valley Dogs Update from Tim: I would like to address the concerns and rumors that have been circulating lately regarding the new agility instructors and students coming to Valley Dogs. There will be absolutely no change for the groups/events currently scheduled inside the building and we will continue to utilize the calendars (online and posted in the building) for reserving usage. The agility group will be utilizing the field and will also have access to the restroom and kitchen, as needed. The only potential issue that I foresee is with regard to parking, but Monika has contacted Perico’s and they have graciously agreed to let us use the east side of their parking lot for overflow. Please consider supporting Perico’s when you can as a thank you for their help in this matter. Also, as a reminder, street parking is never allowed on La Mora out of respect for the neighbors. My hope has been for Valley Dogs to bless the dog community in memory of Evi. I ask everyone to treat each other kindly and respectfully during this time of growth. Change can sometimes be difficult, but it will be easier with proper communication. If you have specific concerns, you are welcome to contact me directly. I really appreciate the help many of you have given over the past couple weeks in anticipation of these changes. I would also like to acknowledge Dana Freebury who has been invaluable over the past four years and continues to help with oversight of the building. The agility field has been utilized very infrequently over the past few years, so the impact of this change should be fairly limited. However, if you have specific questions regarding field usage, they should be directed to Kim Terrill. She has stated that she will be happy to try to accommodate requests around their schedule. This will be an exciting opportunity for Valley Dogs to grow. Thank you for your part in helping to keep Evi’s memory alive! Tim Fox (505) 379-8512

Agility Short Sequence Skills - Monday - 7/15 6:45PM

#agility-field
Reply in thread to RSVP for 7/15 Topic: Gettin' Fancy At The Wing Threadles, Post turns, Tossbacks, Forced Fronts Lets rehearse some of those tricky maneuvers! Focus on things that require excellent handler position and timing This will be held at Valley Dogs 1424 La Mora Ln SW, Albuquerque, NM 87105 Every other Monday 6:45p-8:45pm (Includes setup and tear down) There are nice bright field lights. We can close the street side gate at 7pm to feel safer. $10 per team Capacity, ~8 teams This is a bit different than any class or drill I've seen in our area. We rent the field so we can practice together. No instructor. A host presents a small space exercise aimed to practice a targeted skill. The whole group sets up and tears down. We all get there the same time and leave when its all put away. Peer demos, feedback, coaching and encouragement. More input from the group than a drill, less feedback than a class.

Agility Announcement

Hello All, We have some exciting news! We have just received word that we will be welcoming a new group of agility trainers and students to Valley Dogs. The instructors from the Center at Animal Humane will transfer their training program here in early August. This will allow Valley Dogs the opportunity to provide more lessons, classes and drills! More details to follow, but for now, we extend a warm welcome to CAH Trainers - Kim, Linda, Susan, Ellen, Cindi, and Coleen and all of their students and dogs. As we embrace this new chapter, we continue to keep Evi’s vision and passion for dog training alive! ?
