List Etiquette
We have several hundred subscribers on this list, so when you are thinking of posting a message to the list make sure it is something that is suitable for all audiences and of interest to all, or at least most, of the people on the list. Since this is a contra dance group almost anything to do with contra dance should be fine. Discussions of events involving dance and music and other community activities may also be on-topic. There are certainly other things that will be of interest to the majority of the people on the list, but give it some thought before you hit send. Remember that replies go to the whole list, so if you want to reply to just one person edit the To: address in your email program.
If you signed up for the email list at one of our dances your subscription will be set by default to Special Notices Only. That means you will only get announcements of upcoming dances and other events. If you wish to be involved in discussions on the email list you can change your subscription settings by using the control links at the bottom of every message.

Re: link to Jan Jam workshop schedule
David, et al,
I know the link but it doesn't explain the contra gamesOf course. According to "Dance Workshops offered by Jerome Grisanti": "There are some spicy games that can only be played when your neighbors are experienced contra dancers who can be trusted to play along. We will explore gender-role swapping, partner switching, temporarily joining other sets (minor and major), replacement moves (e.g. swing instead of allemande right). Since these games can potentially annoy callers and fellow dancers, we will discuss how to find the approriate context in which to play." Peace! Dan lewart3@... |

Contra Games
For curious minds:
Jerome liked that we didn't have a specific description of this workshop, so almost anything could happen, but he did mention that "It may include pieces of several workshops listed on my web page: tomfoolery for inactives, little moves that dazzle, and contra games." So, check out his website for details: Best, Brenda K., UCD |

We're hosting three folks at our house already, but if there is desperate need, we have a single upper bunk bed (Jonas') and floor space (hard-wood floor with thin area rug) in his room (person needs to be able to crawl up ladder). We also have two cats and kids, so this may cut down on desirability. Best, Brenda ----- Original Message -----
