I second that. Assuming it is a vertical with a ground plane/radials, then as long as you are above the roof it should be fine.

Good evening Rod, It is gonna depend on which antenna you have or select.
My suggestion would be to temporarily mount it where you would like it and
check your SWR but in my experience 2 feet minimum

I've got a 16 ft vertical dual band next to my house on about a 15 ft mast.
We installed a metal roof and noticed no difference in reception or
transmission.
