1991 Warrior - Replacing house thermostat (NOT engine thermostat)

Good morning, all.

The furnace in my 1991 Winnebago Warrior toyhouse does not regulate the heat very well.. it cycles from uncomfortably warm to uncomfortably cold and back again.??

I'm thinking maybe replacing the 34-year-old thermostat with a more modern-technology one might help.? Any of you have experience with this and can offer suggestions?

Thanks...

what worked for me one winter assuming plugged into 110 electricity,? I bought a separate thermostat switch that plugs into the outlet and has its own receptical and it effectively turns its receptical on an off according to set temperature.? ? I then used a typical household 110V room heater plugged in to the thermostat switch.? ?About $75 for the switch but there were cheaper ones available
.

Just Google RV thermostat. You'll find plenty to choose from. Easy to replace. Maybe not a lot of fancy electronics, but working is always better than not working?

Here is the thermostat I bought and it works great.? The lighted digital temp reading is wonderful vs the guessing game with the old analog thermostat. If you bring up amazon and search "Luxpro thermostat" you'll find a number of them for thirty bucks or less.? Battery operated. Some show the time.

Thanks, Scott.? I don't usually have shore power available hence the need to make the built-in furnace work better.? But when I do have shore power, just a freestanding electric heater seems to work OK.

Thanks, Linda.? Yes, I did that, and got a lot of hits some of which had less-than-stellar reviews.? I just thought I'd ask here and see if anyone had first-hand information with a particular model.

Thanks, Bob.? I see that one controls both heat and cool.? I assume it will work with heat-only systems.? Also I see something about 24V systems.? That's not any sort of requirement, is it?? I assume it's just a passive on-off thermo-controlled switch that works with any 2-wire system up to 24 volts, right?

Yes, Rick, it's just a passive on-off thermo-controlled switch that works fine with the Hydro Flame propane furnace that came with my 1990 Sea Breeze. I like being able to see the digital temp readout without having to figure out the setting and current temp from the old original analog version that came with the furnace.

I don't have the thermostat connected to the air conditioner.

I just used a household thermostat, probably like some of the ones that have already been suggested. That said, I find it also helps to have a little 12v fan running to move/mix the air around from the floor to the ceiling and from the front to the back of the coach. two works better than one.?
