Re: 88 Toyota RV - been sitting for 10 years?
Then again, one would wonder why it hadn’t been run for 10 years.
Barring the issue of the 3.0 V6 being famous for very costly maintenance when needed, it seems like a good bet. However, if the reason for the 10 years could be related to a blown head gasket for example, then one might reconsider. The dipstick would be the place to start. If that looks unsuspicious, then put a good battery in there and see if it will turn over. If it will without issues, go to Harbor Freight and buy a leak down tester for about $25 probably, and then You Tube how to use one, and that should tell you most of the rest of the story. A compression tester is cheap at Harbor Freight too. If it seems likely the head gasket might be blown,… that’s bad news on a 3.0. |

88 Toyota RV - been sitting for 10 years?
I like to ask, if a 88 Toyota RV that has not run for 10 years, a v6 motor, 145K kms, or maybe miles, needs lots of camper love, but would the truck part be redeemable, no rust and looks clean, if one pulled the spark plugs and soaked inside with oil, and wait a few days would you think the motor be able to start, minding if all the extra details were tended to like fuel pumps and anything else, looking here for advice on yes no or solid rust inside the motor. This would need to be put on trailer home, don't want to buy scrap metal. Thank you for any thoughts, opinions & wisdom's, .... thank you! Bruce. |
Re: [minitruckcampers] 5 to 6 lug adapters '84 Toyota Sunrader shorty
Fyi disregard All, after thoroughly examining this rabbit hole I've decided it's silly of me to not just keep my 5 lug wheels in front, they're working fine. Also I realized I need to deal with a strong gas smell I suspect is coming from the tubing from the tank to the filler, and not blowing up is a bit more important than having pretty front wheels :) I'll post a separate thread about that if I can't figure it out / find the info on it, I remember reading posts about the fix for it somewhere. Re: [minitruckcampers] 5 to 6 lug adapters '84 Toyota Sunrader shorty
Only other recent option I found was in the thread below, from "Motorsports Tech", they're apparently cheaper at $100 each (in 2020 anyway). Did anyone get those and are they good? The ones from custom and commercial would be significantly more I think On Sun, Oct 6, 2024, 8:23?AM Edward Gordon via <edward.gordon=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: [minitruckcampers] 5 to 6 lug adapters '84 Toyota Sunrader shorty
Correction, I dug a bit more and see it was custom and commercial wheel that we were getting them from, the AT100F adapters here: I did a little searching for the correct 5x4.5 to 6x7.25 size too and they seem as elusive as always. So, should I just call custom and commercial or is there indeed a better/cheaper option now? Thanks! Ed On Sun, Oct 6, 2024, 7:44?AM Edward Gordon via <edward.gordon=[email protected]> wrote:

5 to 6 lug adapters '84 Toyota Sunrader shorty
Hi All, where's the best source for two 5 to 6 lug adapters these days? I found the place below which I "think" is where we were getting them years ago but am hoping there may be a more affordable option these days. Also, what size should I get?? Thank you. Ed |

Re: 22RE lost water,antifreeze
Given the number of and speed with which lawyers like to file law suits these days I think a big company like Prestone would have iron clad tecnology to back up their claims as to compatible for "all mfgrs? and all models"? regarding their premium antifreeze product.? ?Maybe Prestone has a tech support dept that can discuss why their product is different and better than products in the past and ok for use in specific model vehicles. |
Re: Winnebago Warrior 91
For me it would depend on the condition of the interior -- a lot of engine stuff can be repaired/replaced, but if the inside is trashed or has major leak damage, then it will be a hard sell. Anyone looking at it would be thinking worst case scenario, new engine and tires, which would run in the $6K+ cost. Just my 2 cents. |
