Re: r22 to v6 swap

Hi Jim,

Yes, putting a 350 in one of these units defeats most of
the reasons for having them. It is a "Tim Allen" approach
for MORE POWER.

I do not believe that there is a weight problem in putting a V6
in your camper. I have noticed that my camper is too light as
it is. When I turn on gravel I seem to skate some. I think more
weight in the front would be better.

Even if the V6 causes the front suspension to be lower, it is
an easy matter to adjust the torsion bar for more clearance.
Simply turn the adjusting nut until you have the heigth you want.

Jack

Jack, Thanks for your ideas we are both seeing the possible swap about
the same. I can buy a complete late model wreck for a thousand bucks or
less here in my area. A major rollover type wreck that I hope would
supply most everything but a radiator. I've felt that staying with the
Toyota v6 would be the best bet. I wonder what the weight difference
would be from the r22 to the v6 ? I need to do some measuring under the
hood of a v6. Length , heigth, radiator size etc. I'm afraid that the v6
and 5 speed might smash my front suspension.

Now about your chev. 350 idea . Seems to me that would be heavy also.
Would I be giving up all my gas economy?

Jim
