Congradulations on your Odyssey. That sounds great!. I bought a
1986 22ft Rogue. It is really like 21ft but has a rear bumper
extention with a nice storage box on it. It has 46k miles.
automatic..roof and dash air..rear bath..sofa with a captains chair.
I love it..a really nice camper. I went to Pep Boys lastnight and
bought a transmission oil cooler. They had 3 to choose from for a
Toyota truck chassy. The heavy duty one I bought was $49
dollars..surely worth it. I am servicing the tranny with a new
screne, fluid, flushing the radiator. It seemed to be just tuned up.
The biggest disappointment was to find after joining this board a few
weeks ago, was that it had the cheezy small rear end. I called all
over Egypt, and found a RV dealer that can sell me one of the kits
that they used for the recall (a new kit) for $1000.00. I will do
the install myself. so I guess the old saying if it seems too good to
be true, then sometimes it is..although I will still have just over
5k in it..and I think it is nice.
I took it last week to the local mountains here in La. Me and a
friend went to a place called Chialo. It is about 50 miles from La.
We got up there at night and it was snowing too hard to stay . We
found a camp ground at a little lower elevation and stayed the night
and went back there the next day to camp. All the upper level camp
grounds were closed because of snow still. We found a place in a camp
ground to stay off the road and no one messed with us. The camp
ground was closed so no one was up there. THis was on the entry road.
It was so nice to get into "no noise". Living in a big city is so
hard with the constant back ground noise. Toyota campers have been my
savior the last few years, good on gas so you can leave just about
anytime.

It is so nice to have such a wealth of information on here. I was
a mechanic back in Biloxi Mississippi for 10 years back in the 80's
and it is fun to hear about some people who talk mechanics again.
Good luck with the camper..bye..Tommy
