hardware defect

 

Through the dedicated tinySA support page I was forwarded to the tinySA groups.
I'm not sure whether hardware issues can be reported along this way.

I'm owning a tinyAS ultra, S/N SU-23080463.
Since some time I had doubt regarding the output level of the signal generator (appeared too low, significantly). But since that didn't doubt me, I didn't care about it - till now.

Yet I found that the LNA has got defective. With LNA, signal is negligible.

Self tests: 3, 4, 7, 10 - all Signal level Critical.

What to do?

I don't know what "support page" you were on before but this is the only place where the developer Erik supports the tinySA products.? Read this post about failing self-tests before asking more questions.

A couple of points:
  • This group only supports genuine tinySA products.? Post a picture of the front and back of your device in order to determine if you have a counterfeit or genuine product.
  • The selftest requires that one of the supplied cables be connected between the two ports.
  • If you have a scope measure the output level of the 30 MHz. cal output with a 50 ohm load. ? It should be close to -26 dBm

Well on mine the 30MHz fundamental is consistently at -35dBm. No problems with tests and all attenuator steps as well as the LNA do function as expected. TinySA Ultra (SeeSii) Version: tinySA4_v1.4-156-g4eb315d, still original.

Q: Does this indicate a problem, or was there a SW update that changed it to -26 dBm, Erik?

Sorry it is -35 dBm for ultra and -26 for smaller version.

Sorry for the late response.
I have an original product - bought nov. 2023 at ELESHOP, so counterfeit is not an issue.
Thus I got aware of being able to send it in for repair, but - today - after operating the "Fault Finder for the Tiny..." instructions, I'd order the parts as indicated, since the defects are probably due to own handling errors.
