USB / Serial connectivity issue
开云体育My TinySA Ultra is all of “a sudden” not connecting to my Windows 11 PC.? It previously connected to the PC ? With the device connected to the PC and opening the “Ports (COM & LPT): under the “{Device Manager in “Control Panel”, I do not see another port show when the TinySA is connected. ? Initial indicators suggested a cable issue, however, I have tried various USB cables with no joy; ?I have cycled the power on the tinySA – again no joy;? I have tried two different PCs – no joy; ?even rebooting the PC does not solve the problem.? What have others seen relative to this behavior, and what was the “fix” (if any)?? Is this a new observation.? I am open to almost any suggestion. ? Another item to toss in here is that with the USB Connection selected the PC, on connecting the tinySA, shows a message in the lower right corner of the screen –“The last USB device you connected malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it.” ? Thanks in advance for any ideas. ? ? |
开云体育Ed, Have you perhaps changed the USB cable? … not all USB cables are bi-directional. In fact, the cable that came with your TinySA Ultra is not bidirectional; It is only for charging the device. ? Ian, GM0UHC ? ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Ed Kane

开云体育Hi, Did Windows do one of their automatic updates? Can you try it with a different computer? Do the various cables you have tried work with other USB data devices? I have found that USB connectors are reasonably robust but with enough plug/unplug cycles they do wear out. Maybe the socket on your tinySA has failed. 73, Bill ?KU8H On Jun 24, 2023, at 1:18 AM, Ed Kane <w6ont@...> wrote:

I am having this same issue with a new Ultra+ ZS-406. Was working great on my computer talking to tinySA-app yesterday and earlier today. I set up TCPUART on my phone to try using the unit remote, and that worked quite well. It is after this when I could no longer connect via USB directly.? Windows 10 machine
Are there suggestions on what to do next?
Did the USB get borked somehow?
Is there a hard reset I should try?
?
Brand new to me yesterday from R&L.
?
THANKS

Is it a computer that has both USB2 and USB3 ports?
If yes try a computer that has only USB2
There is a known incompatibility with USB3, check the WIKI and the user group comments.

Most of the attempts are 2.0. The primary connection I am using is 2.0. During my "various" ports attempts I did try a 3.0.

Thanks Roger. I am not sure I have a rig with only USB2. I had searched for solutions and ideas before posting.? There is a very definite change in the behavior of the device. The computer and ports that connected well for a day no longer connect. I have listed what I have tried. In addition I ran Zadig to see if that might help to replace the driver, but the device is not listed.

开云体育My laptop is usb3 only and I have not had a single connectivity problem at all. So I don’t think that usb3 can be blamed for most issues. Same thing with windows 11 being blamed in the same way. That hasn’t affected me either.?
