Re: Listen mode

Terry,?a crystal earphone would be saturated by the output voltage of the STM32 port. On the other hand,?I think?the main function of the resistors and capacitor is to protect the STM32 port from ESD, from anything that could be induced in the wires and/or from external short circuits.?

Re: Newbie question #firmware-build

Hi Martin
Thanks for the clear image.
I've not seen this error before but it is indeed very wrong.
Suggest you contact your supplier for a solution.

Done, Great mod.
I had all the components, eve the low profile audio jack, but not the 10uF, after an hour of testing smd on my electronic junk yard, found just one and did the mod. Thanks for the instructions, was relative easy with your help.

Hello Erik,

Attached please find the photo showing that +60 dBm and -40 are displayed in red color. I took the photo immeadiately after I reset the calibration without power cycling.

Martin,
Both "+60", "dBm" and "-40" in the left status panel should be red after a successful calibration reset.
do they turn red directly after you did the RESET CALIBRATION? (do not switch off/on after reset calibration)
If they are red please take a photo (do not switch off/on) and post to confirm the display when reset is calibration.

Hello Martin, one of the RF chip si4432 has been damaged, please contact the dealer to replace the new tinySA.

One more request
Can you do a reset of the level calibration as this could be caused by a failed level calibration
CONFIG/LEVEL CAL/RESET CALIBRATION
This should change the ref level and bottom level indication to a red font.
and please post a photo of the screen directly after switching off and on.

Dear tinySA Group,

Attached please find the requested photo.

Best Regards

Martin

First thing to do is PRESETS/STORE/FACTORY DEFAULTS and power cycle the tinySA
Don't connect anything and don't change any setting!!!!!
Take a picture of the tinySA screen (photo using mobile phone is good enough) and post here.
From there we can take next steps.

Newbie question #firmware-build

Dear all,
recently I purchased a tiny SA fromAmazon:

tinySA v0.3
2019-2020 Copyright @Erik Kaashoek
2016-2020 Copyright @edy555
SW licensed under GPL. See: https://github.com/erikkaashoek/tinySA
Version: tinySA_v1.3-347-g31eb02e
Build Time: Mar 21 2022 - 14:57:08
Kernel: 4.0.0
Compiler: GCC 7.2.1 20170904 (release) [ARM/embedded-7-branch revision 255204]
Architecture: ARMv6-M Core Variant: Cortex-M0
Port Info: Preemption through NMI
Platform: STM32F072xB Entry Level Medium Density devices
ESD protected

On the device's back it states the serial number: SA- 20021474

When switching on the device it shows the following screen while inputs high and low are connected.

The selftest entirely fails.

The tinySA-App.exe shows the same image; however I am unable to create other screenshots e.g. showing the self test.
When switching to level calibration, e.g. verifying 15 dBm @30 MHZ I get the same image instead of a 30 MHz line and harmonics.
Switching to TeraTerm shows the following config data:

ch> leveloffset

Now I am a bit stuck. Is there a defect and I have to return the device? I browsed through the group's messages; however I did not manage to find similar diagnostics (or have overseen en entry...)

Can anyone please lend me a hand.

Best regards

Martin

Re: TinySA Low Output doesn't seem to generate any output?

Thanks, I'll try that.

Re: TinySA Low Output doesn't seem to generate any output?

The easiest way to check the output of a tinySA is to connect the telescopic antenna to the low output , go to low output mode, frequency set to 95MHz, sweep to 20MHz and see if you hear something happening on a portable FM receiver that is tuned to a not very strong station.

Doesn¡¯t the fob require a code to be sent? I doubt it will respond to a simple carrier.

I have a dipole 415mhz antenna that I'm going to try for transmission, hoping it can get enough out to trigger the fob.

Re: TinySA Low Output doesn't seem to generate any output?

A 134.2khz signal with the small antenna that came with it? Well, you might get a yard or two out of it if you have a real sensitive receiver. It will never work with? key FOB unless you are right on top of it...and then you would have found it already.

Re: TinySA Low Output doesn't seem to generate any output?

I tried AM, FM and no modulation. Didn't see the signal in any case.

Re: TinySA Low Output doesn't seem to generate any output?

Definitely had it on.

What would be a "low" output level? I was running it at -15 and -7. I'm starting to worry I blew out my RTL-SDR. It was acting strangely and I kept having to reset it.

For antenna, I was using the telescopic antenna that came with it. I have a couple other 415Mhz antennas I bought, which I haven't tried. Someone else suggested a piece of wire loosely fit in the low out connector, but I haven't tried that.

Thanks in advance for your help. I'm trying to find a lost passive key entry fob for a Toyota Camry by sending out a 134.2khz signal, triggering a 314mhz response from the fob. My plan was to use the TinySA to send the signal and the RTLSDR to see the response and allow me to narrow in on the location by signal strength. I'm definitely out over my skis at this point.

Re: TinySA Low Output doesn't seem to generate any output?

Yes, I did enable it and it switched to ON.

Re: TinySA Low Output doesn't seem to generate any output?

You have a transmit antenna?
(Can be a bit of wire fitting loosely in the low out connector.)
Modulation on?
Audible modulation frequency selected?

Hi all,
I'm new to TinySA, but am loving my new SA. I have had no problem with scanning input, but I tried for the first time to generate a frequency using the Low Output mode, and my RTL.SDR on my laptop isn't seeing any signal. I have confirmed that my SDR can see other frequencies and tune FM stations, so I'm fairly certain that the receiver is functioning. Is there any kind of tutorial for the Low Output, or some trick to get it to generate? I tried a few different frequencies and turned on sweep, but still nothing is showing up.

Thanks in advance for any advice/pointers,
Rich
