Sent: December 14, 2000 5:19:42 AM GMT Subject: [TableSmith] Beta 1 for 4.0 Sorry I've been quiet - busy couple of weeks (work, holidays, you know how it goes :) Saw some good stuff coming through, which reminded me that I need to get off my butt and get some new tables put together. Anyway, just a quick question: You folks interested in beta-testing TableSmith 4.0? I figure since many (most?) of the people here seem to be frequent users, I could get some good feedback. I figure I'd put the compiled EXE in the Files section of the list, and you could download it at your leisure. TS4 isn't a reality yet - and won't be for awhile. But I'm in the process of adding some new features, and I'm figuring on posting a new EXE each time one is added, so people can start playing with the program. When I'm satisfied that enough features have been added to merit a version increase, and all the bugs have been crushed <g>, then 4.0 will be officially released. Just let me know. I'm almost ready with the first "beta" now. The newest feature is an additional tag for table calls, which looks like this: [LN~Nordic Names] When TS encounters a "LN~" tag, it means that the result that comes up from the table/group call will be displayed as a hyperlink in the TS results window. Click on it, and that part of the results will be re-rolled, but the rest will remain the same. So, for instance, if you've generated a random NPC and like everything but their name, if the name call had the "LN~" tag, you can re-roll the name but keep everything else the same. The next new feature planned is an archiving feature, to easily save and retrieve TableSmith results. No timetable on that one yet... ----------------------------------------- Bruce Gulke akira@...
