I have a question for the group

I have a singer futura, does anyone in here have this machine, and if
so have you had any problems with it or singer?

The reason I ask is that mine died over 2 weeks ago, on a Fri. night,
I took it to the service center on Monday, only 1 service center in
the state, and it has taken 2 weeks for him to say he can't figure out
what the problem is. Needless to say I couldn't even get a loaner. I
had to call singer themselves to even get any part of an answer and
only after they said they would call me, I never heard anything from
them till AFTER I called them today. I just am so frustrated with the
whole company and wondered if anyone else has had problems with them..
Oh and I also told them that if it was a car it wouldn't have taken 2
weeks to figure out what was wrong, and cars have computer chips in
them. that was the excuse I got from singer...

Thanks for reading this and I hope to hear something or a tip from
someone in the group....hugs..Barbara

Barbara,

You have got to join the futura group. Tina, the moderator will help you. She just helped someone fix their machine tonight AFTER it had been to the service center twice with no luck. It was a simple fix for a major problem.

If she cannot help you - if it is a fix-it-yourself- kinda thing, she can certainly direct you in the right direction to get it fixed.

I have this machine and have had no problems - know-on-wood, but with anything that is as sophisticated as embroidery machines, it can happen.

The yahoo group is FuturaEmbroidery.

Barbara,
There is a wonderful Yahoo group for the futuras. Yes I do have one and I love it. My only problem when I first got it was the bobbin case issue, which was quickly resolved. We also have a group member whose is an authorized dealer who may be able to help you. Contact me off group for more info if you wish.

What kind of sounds was the machine making, did it stop completely,
software problem, were you completely new to sewing before this machine
purchase? We thrive on details.

Hi Barbara,

I had a futura CE100 and had nothing but problems with it. I had
to send it back to Singer Corp twice(at my expense which was about
$35)for the same problem. They would send me a new machine and after
a few minutes of stitching the bobbin case would "jump" out of the
place where it sits and the needle would go right through the
plastic. When I called the customer service center the rep pretty
much called me a liar and send "that isn't possible". I finally spoke
to a manager who then told me that it was a manufacturing defect in
the metal bracket that the bobbin case sits in. I told her the
problems that I had with the cust service dept and that I had
purchased a Singer machine because of their good reputation, but that
I would never buy another Singer. They sent me a new machine that was
manufactured after that defect was fixed. I used that machine for
about a year when it started to make a metal-on- metal schreeching
noise. I took it to a singer dealer to see about getting it fixed and
was told that she didn't know without taking it all apart and there
were no guarantees. She gave me almost what i originally paid for the
machine in store credit and i upgraded to the Brother 4000D which I
absolutely love.
There are many that have the Singer and sing praises but I
unfortunately did not have good luck.

I too had bad luck with Singer and swore I would never own another. I
thought the thing was going to catch the house on fire so I sold it
at a yard sale and went back to my old Kenmore. I now own it, plus a
Brother Innovis 1500D and I also love my Brother. Amazing machine.

My bestest online Buddy had problems at every turn. She never was able to get it straightened out and ended up trading in on a singer xl6000 which she says is doing well. I on the otherhand have the ce200 and besides it sometimes being painfully slow, I hardly ever have a problem

Thanks for the reply Gail, This has been the second time since Oct. that
something has happened. The service tech at the center couldn't figure out
what is wrong so he sent it in to singer. I called and told them that their
training program stunk as far as training their techniciana..lol.. I just
am so frustrated with everything, and my big thing is why does it take 2
weeks just to figure out the problem or rather NOT figure out the problem I
know there is alot of technical stuff with these machines. I do belong to a
futura group and she couldn't figure out what was wrong..she tried
everything she knew to help me. It just was so strange, I had just finished
stitching out a fsl heart, shut off the machine but left the software open,
came back and tried to turn it on and all that would happen was buzzing and
flashing lights...No warning that there was anything wrong. I am now
starting to wish I had bought another brand...lol...I think I will look into
it...Thanks again Gail...hugs..Barbara

I too had good thoughts about Singer until I bought one and it was
downhill from there. It never performed right and sometimes the foot
pedal got so hot I couldn't sew anymore or the sewing machine just
quit. I got worried it would burn the house down so I sold it at a
yardsale and went back to my old Kenmore. I own that one plus a
Janome serger and two Brother embroidery machines. I love all of
these brands. I also have a weakness for good machines so I have way
too many, as I do with fabric. If my husband finds out how much
fabric I have he will stomp me in the ground!! Anyone else have a
fabric fettish? Carol

I do... and in my case... I managed to put the blame on him... if he comes
shopping with me...I am well behaved...if he doesn't... I am not... so... I
guess it's his fault if he refuses to come fabric shopping with me...right??

Today was a particularily good fabric shopping day for me... not so much for
him... but hey.... he said he didn't want to come with me... so it's on his
head... LOL

My husband, who passed away last year, was a quad and if I would "run into" the fabric store he would say-don't forget I am in the car. Once I had pulled all the fabric out of one of my double closets and they were in a hugh mound on the floor, as Todd was going by the room I told him I had to go get some pink-my colors are red and purple-fabric. He said," there is no pink in that". Of course there was not the pink I needed in the pile. Only a sewer would understand. Trish in AZ
