*New* Puppy Love

Puppy Love is the newest addition to a special collection of designs
celebrating the teen speak that goes on during the hard-to-understand
years. I've thought hard to keep these messages fun and innocent! The
new 4x4 princess design has all of the spirit without anything over the
top.
I've "spotted" the puffy, puppy love lettering to work for your pooch
love or for labeling what sweet little crushes used to be. See these
sweet sentiments at
Keep your eye out for next energized addition to this unique collection!

Gail, It means that the person has unsubscribed from the group. In certain circumstances, you will not be allowed to rejoin the group. It is best to read the rules when signing up and make sure, but you can also contact the moderators of the group if you have special circumstances and need to unsub from that particular group.

Whoa isn't enough enough?

I have been on a embroidery site that clearly stated that if you joined
and
then unsubbed it was finito...so go by the rules.

I am also one of those "collectors" out there who loves the freebies. I
love

the idea of a freebie so that if I wanted to purchase some designs from
someone I could stitch out a bit to see if I liked the results. I remember
once I had been looking for a African Grey bird design and I paid dearly
for

it only to have it been badly digitized! But that was long ago and I think
now we have some very talented digitizers out there.

G'day
I find it amazing, that some digitisers do not put any copyright info on some of the designs they give away, or in some cases, some they sell.
Does this then mean, that those designs are not copyrighted in any way, and can be shared around?
Education for people about copyright is very important, but perhaps we need to teach digitisers, to cover themselves properly.
Best wishes

Check for a read it file with the design. Sometimes
there is a file that tells the name of the digitizer
and where they can be found. Not always, but many
times there is. It looks like a little spiral note
pad.

Donna,
This is an excellent point. I am sorry for your woes but I certainly have learnt from it having happened to you (not that I'd wish it on you.)

Thank goodness it was under warranty.

Then
the thread broke and the machine wound a lot of thread again before I
could get it stopped. Again the machine came to a screeching halt.
So I took the machine back to him he cleaned out the thread and he
asked one very important question, "Did you say you had to stop the
machine, it did not stop when the thread broke?" I said yes the
machine did not stop on its own. At this time he checked a thread
sensor, it was not working. I was told that this sensor never goes
out. Well Ellie is back home and stitching like a dream.

My point is this, if you ever have your machine keep stitching after
the thread is broken make it a point to tell the repair man. I feel
that this what caused my problem back in October and took 3 different
repairmen fixing my machine and it took one chance statement to find
the real problem.

Re: moderation

G'day Margaret,
If you have been banned from a group, then there is obviosly a reason why.
I have at least 50 people that are banned from our groups, most fall into spammers, known design sharers, porn, but some are trouble makers.
Neither i or my moderators ban people lightly. But each of the groups i help moderate, have very strict rules, and if you cross a line, then we have a vote
As you have bought designs from this digitiser, then i would strongly suggest you email them rather than close the book on this.
Each digitiser, wants sales, for them to lose your custom, is like taking money out there pocket.

Also I will point out, your not banned from any of our groups :)
Best wishes

After purchasing some new designs from a particular designer last week, I went to her/his Yahoo group and asked to join. I received the message that I had been banned for life. Evidently, I had at one time joined the group, then unsubbed for some reason. Banned for life? Suits me. I've banned this designer from my pocket book for life, too. Problem solved.

Thanks for the change of direction. Maybe we should all get back on track and lose the negativity that's taken over the list.

I totally agree with you. I haven't left a group, yet. But, sometimes I feel
like it when I have 100 messages to read, and when I open them up, 90% of
them are about Wal-Mart, politics, religion, etc. I not saying that I don't
enjoy reading about good news in your family or a prayer request for
yourself or family member, these It's do not bother me. I often find myself
checking the digest to make sure that a members surgery went well, that the
new triplets are doing good, or that a members son that was burned is doing
okay. I guess I consider these groups my extended family. I love hearing
about, and seeing, the cute pictures of new family members that you are so
proud of. I also think it is wonderful that so many care about others by
sending words of encouragement, prayers, "Thank yous" for designs and
appreciations for help.
It is the 1000+ messages saying the same thing over and over again that make
me feel like I want to leave a group. I understand that the Wal-Mart closing
started off as a legitimate topic...but then it got way out of hand. Same
with some other topics. Even when the moderators say enough, some want to
keep it going.

I really do enjoy all the groups that I am in and I wouldn't want to leave
any of them.

Re: Things the Bug me...

IMHO, venting like this now and then is very healthy. As long as no one is nasty about it, and keeps it fairly light, discussing "pet peeves" can be quite a good outlet for what bugs you, and also give some people a new way of seeing some things. Though a companion thread of "what I really like" would be nice as well, of course.

What don't you all talk about what you like, what is good and what makes you happy instead of all this negativity? Surely it's not healthy?

Gosh this group has changed, lately.

Re: Just thinking

When I download a design, I save it with it's original name, but add a couple of letters before it to designate where I got it (for example, if the file is name cat.zip, I would save it as HOE-cat.zip. When I later unzip it, I add the same letters to the .pes file as well. Of course, some sites have more than one designer, but at least it helps narrow it down. I also keep a list of the abbreviations I use, since it can get confusing on similarly named sites.

and that usually gets me into trouble...but anyway. I was just
stitching out a design and still being very new to all of this I just
have to watch every stitch. It made me wonder if it was possible for
the designer to have their name download with the design. I try to
write it down at the time I download a design, but I don't always
remember. Now I will go back to all the places I have found designs to
see if I can find this designer. I am just in love with the way this
one is done. No jump stitches and it stitched out fabulous, I want to
buy more. I just can't remember if it is one I bought or a free one I
came accross.

Don't be blue! I used to have a Bernina Artista 180 and suffered the way
you are. Then, one day, a kind fairy told me of the following procedure.
It takes a while but works for that special design you just have to have!

Re: Things the Bug me... (For: Caroline)

"Caroline Liebau" <Caroline_Liebau@...> wrote in part:

What do you think of this one
Well . . . since you asked for folks input <wink> . . .

My niece made a beautiful scripture
quilt for her new daughter-in-law's mother.
WOW, that sounds exceptional! Labor of love does not begin to describe
something like that.

well used. This week she got a call from the lady, asking if she
would mind if the quilt was put in the coffin of her sister's
mother- in-law!!! The deceased lady often complained of being cold.
My poor niece was struck speechless. Now, that's REALLY "putting
something away"
I sure is, LOL (really putting something away).

I can understand several sides of this. That beautiful quilt took
many hours of labor and love, so it would be natural for it's creator
to balk at the idea of it being buried with someone (presuming that's
what you intended when you said she was speechless).

But . . . *on the other hand*, think about it . . . A) the person whom
she gave it to, did have the courtesy to call, this shows respect for
your nieces feelings, which is not to be discounted and B) yes, I know
it could be a " but, but, but . . . you want to do what with that
quilt I made?" moment . . . yet depending on one's perspective on the
matter one could think, wow . . . what an honor that they would want
to put *my scripture quilt* on someone to symbolicly keep them warm
forever, especially for someone who was always cold, the concept is an
act of love and respect for the person who has crossed, even it is
only their earthly body. It is, in a way, being put to use 24/7.

I myself have thyroid disease, oftentimes I find it hard to keep warm,
especially my extremities, as a consequence, I have favorite
*blankies*, some are after all, better than others . . . this makes
them a source of basic human comfort, so . . . we get attached to
these things. I have one I sleep with every night because it is not
only super soft, but very warm.

If your niece is struggling with the decision to be made or already
made, perhaps having another perspective might help.

Re: about freebie hunters!!! Reply Sherrie

Sherrie, I agree with you with regard to joining a group or becoming a
member of a site. I don't mind writing an email to receive a free one
either, although then the digitizers would be inundated with emails, I
guess. Maybe this would stop the freeloaders though.

luv Terry (Sth Australia)

So many sites have stopped giving samples altogether and force people
onto groups now because of pirating and quite frankly, I don't blame
them. If you had to email a site as a potential customer to get a
sample, I would be quite happy.....Sherrie
