This is an excellent point. I am sorry for your woes but I certainly have learnt from it having happened to you (not that I'd wish it on you.)

Then
the thread broke and the machine wound a lot of thread again before I
could get it stopped. Again the machine came to a screeching halt.
So I took the machine back to him he cleaned out the thread and he
asked one very important question, "Did you say you had to stop the
machine, it did not stop when the thread broke?" I said yes the
machine did not stop on its own. At this time he checked a thread
sensor, it was not working. I was told that this sensor never goes
out. Well Ellie is back home and stitching like a dream.
My point is this, if you ever have your machine keep stitching after
the thread is broken make it a point to tell the repair man. I feel
that this what caused my problem back in October and took 3 different
repairmen fixing my machine and it took one chance statement to find
the real problem.
