2 HDSDRs on one Softrock receive.
4
Hello, I'm using a Softrock LF/HDSDR setup tuned to 2187.5 Khz (DSC decoding) works fine. Can I add another instance of HDSDR and now tune this to 2177 Khz (DSC) and decode separately/simultaneously? I have internal sound card plus VAC. There seems problems with Config tool Si570 not opening in second HDSDR?

help needed for getting RX Ensemble II running in Ubuntu 18.04?
4
It's been a long time since I used my RX Ensemble II, but I used Linrad on my computer. It's the best one for pulling out weak signals below the noise floor and has the best noise blankers. It has a learning curve; but if you don't mind reading and installing it from source, it's worth the time. Just Google *Linrad*. 73 Mike W0BTU [email protected]> wrote:

Looking for dual (or multiple) coherent SDR - softrock implementation? terminology?
7
Sorry if my terminology is not clear - hopefully someone here can set me straight! I'm searching for SDR software/hardware that can accept two (or more) separate antenna inputs simultaneously, each clocked with the same source (so the two or more antenna inputs are detected coherently), render each to I/Q, and then process/demodulate the two or more I/Q streams so that the signals can be correlated. Not sure where to start looking, so thought I'd start here as Softrock was my first SDR long ago. Goal in any event is to receive the same section of spectrum using two different (but nearby) antennas, and favor signals that appear in frequency/phase at both antennas. Thanks, Dave

SoftRock RXTX Ensemble Transceiver Kit w/KM5H Case For Sale
I have a SoftRock RXTX Ensemble Transceiver Kit that I purchased several years ago along with a KM5H Case. The Power Supply and USB Power Supply sections have been completed. However, work related projects and travel intervened and I never got back to completing this. I have since moved on to another SDR solution and other interest so I no longer have a need for this kit. I have built several Steve Weber ATS kits which are all surface mounted components so I believe the work that's done here should be acceptable to the buyer concerned with a kit that's been started. I can provide pictures if necessary. Let me know if interested, PayPal preferred. $115.00 shipped, Continental US only. Thanks, Alan / NX4J

Strong signals seem to overload Softrock Ensemble HF RX. Dual images on waterfall
9
08 December 2020 I am using my Ensemble HF RX as a second receiver / panadapter for my TS-590. My buffer amp died and I bought a new one, I THINK it may have been mis-sold as not a unity gain one, but with gain as this effect wasn't noticed before. I now see two images equi spaced from the center when very strong antenna signals are present. Short of changing the buffer amp is there any trick to stopping this please? I haven't opened the 590 to check my fears yet, not sure there's even a schematic for the hupRF buffer I bought available... Thanks -- Best regards, Chris mailto:chris@...

Softrock RXTX connection to RF power amp
4
#antennas
I have a question about using the Softrock Ensemble RXTX with one of those cheap far east linear amp kits. I believe the amp is working correctly and I have set the bias voltage adjustment on the gates of the power MOSFETs (~1.0 vdc) and activated PTT (ground), I now adjust the output of the RXTX using a 2000 Hz test audio to the Line-In usine M0KGK IQ Test and use CFGSR to control PTT on the RXTX. When adjusting the amplitude of the test IQ 2000 Hz signal to ~ -10dB with PTT active on the RXTX the power amp kicks in (output at the dummy load) and then, less then one second, the RXTX shuts off the RF output and the USB connection to the computer laptop drops. What is the most likely cause of the RXTX RF shut off? Is it DC ground loop, RF back feeding the Softrock or sloppy connections between components? I would appreciate any input form any of you who have successfully used the RXTX with a RF power amplifier, especially the cheap kits form E-Bay and Alliexpress.

Softrock RXTX contest machine
4
The Softrock RXTX might not be the latest innovation in ham radio but, I am glad Tony sent me a brand new 40-30-20m card. I had already a 15-12-10m card so I swapped between the two during the WWDXSSB contest. I am used to operate patiently without pretending to be among the top operators. I had been also using an allegedly poor antenna (an old and oxidized T2FD). Paired with a small PA (50w on 40m decreasing to just 10W on 10m) I ended up with about 350 QSOs. Am looking forward to the WWDXCW and even VHF contests via transverters.

Intriguing PCB holder

Hi all, I was doing some window shopping at Amazon and came across this: https://www.amazon.com/Toolour-Pieces-Circuit-Board-Holder/dp/B07TDGT21L/ref=pd_di_sccai_1/141-0245591-8116743?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07TDGT21L&pd_rd_r=7b0da477-6da5-44bc-a310-0cadc5342c46&pd_rd_w=sxl4t&pd_rd_wg=BWTHC&pf_rd_p=c9443270-b914-4430-a90b-72e3e7e784e0&pf_rd_r=60J8V780JFKXTPYVWZYK&psc=1&refRID=60J8V780JFKXTPYVWZYK Has anyone tried these? They look cool and you can get flexible arms to hold your PCB up higher and change the orientation of the board. Any feedback god, bad or indifferent would be appreciate any info. Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! -- -- 73... Bob de k2ki k2ki@... k2ki.bb@... (Goes to my cell) 802-752-7225 (Cell - Call anytime) SKCC #12195 NAQCC #2337

Integrating SDR with Tranceiver
Hello, This is for the people like me who intend to use their SDRs with their transceiver as one integrated unit. For a long time (from 2008) I have been using a homemade solution for antenna switching and audio path switching. Small but useful improvements were made during these years which were result of obtained experience. Since I am convinced that this is a very useful device I decided to make proper PCBs out of it and to offer it to the ham radio community as a ready product. Go to https://sdrswitch.active-antenna.eu/ for more details. There are also 2 videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-plJqKtqwpM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6YeNFDw2cto For the users of Softrock, the device has separate ground paths for PC audio and transceiver ground in order to avoid ground loops. This is quite important for direct conversion receivers. I use it with softrock type SDR synchronized with IC756pro trx and HDSDR. This SDR has a better dynamic range and usually the trx is used most of the time only as a transmitter. In my case , the HDSDR , Creative sound card and ASIO4ALL driver has a time delay below 200 ms which is acceptable even for contest work. This integration transforms your station into a state of the art setup: two independent or synchronized receivers and simultaneous waterfall display. You can use for receiving the TX antenna or a separate RX antenna even if your TRX does not have separate RX antenna input. Chavdar lz1aq@... www.lz1aq.signacor.com

FST3253 in SOIC-16?
4
Seems this question was last asked about 11 years ago: Anyone know of a U.S. source for the FST3252 mux/demux in the SOIC-16 package? I'm trying to repair a Softrock RX Ensemble. The only sources I'm finding are UK and China. Thanks and 73, Brent AB1LF

Softrorock RXTX - Quisk - USB port crash
3
Hello everybody I use Kubuntu 18.04, quisk 4.1.72 and Softrock RXTX. Sometimes Quisk quits abruptly and the RXTX becomes unusable until I turn the laptop off and turn it on again. I thought it was a consequence of a common ground loop but seems it happens quite randomly, especially at the beginning as I check the power with FM and PTT down. When it stops (crashes) I see the that no power output is visible but more current is drawn (something like 150mA instead almost nothing). As this happens I turn the 12vdc voltage down to zero. My question is the following: I cannot see a way to unmount or safely disable the USB of the softrock. If I physically disconnect the USB cable would I damage something at the Softrock board or the USB port of the laptop? I wish to check whether I could unplug and re-plug the cable to see if I can re-gain control of the Softrock board without rebooting the all system. 73, Franco iz2oos

Hi all; Interfacing cw keys/keyers.. what usb serial port adapters are people using? The chipset is what I am concerned about. Getting a "real" FTDI chipset or other chipsets used here. I could not find a recommendation in the group. Thanks! Guy

W6SFM Bug Roundup Event is Coming, Save the Date
Announcing W6SFM's BUG ROUNDUP Have you seen, the solar flux numbers are up in the 90s! The Samuel F. Morse Amateur Radio Club, a Sacramento, California based CW enthusiast club wanted a special time to bring bug operators together on the air. In the same spirit as ARRL's Straight Key Night, participants are encouraged to make simple, conversational, “chewing-the-fat” QSOs using their bug type key. This is an opportunity to exercise, share and exhibit your personalized fist. This is NOT a contest. However, there is a very easy and quick requested signup form that can be found at https://w6sfm.com/bug-roundup/. Once you have read the page, and optionally registered for the event simply Call "CQ BR" so folks know you are a Bug Roundup Participant. So lets grab that bug, clean those contacts, and let’er fly! We want to hear that “Banana Boat / Lake Erie Swing" or that commercial KPH/WCC quality fist. Reserve the date! The event begins on Saturday November 21st (00:00 UTC) and concludes Sunday Nov. 22nd (23:59 UTC), 2020 That's 4:00 PM PT Friday (Nov. 20th) afternoon until 3:59 PM Pacific Time Sunday (Nov. 22nd Pacific LOCAL Time). For more information, to register your station, and to help assist in spotting, potentially increasing QSOs, an On-line chat window link can be found near the bottom of Bug Roundup home page located at https://w6sfm.com/bug-roundup/ We hope to hear you all on the air! 73, W6SFM -- Michael N6MQL President SFM ARC

Gonna try this one more time then call it quits. Thanks for reading this post. I am looking for a v6.2 20M RXTX built or un-built. However, cost is an issue for me as I rely on SS Disability so pls no "High-Ball" prices! This will help me to restart an old project that I shelved due to health issues and would love to finish it! Please drop me a line if you have one that you are willing to part with. Many thanks in advance! Bob Bruno - K2KI -- 73/72 . . Bob de k2ki k2ki@... k2ki.bb@...
