getting software for older RX Ensemble
I lost the software for my "old" RX Ensemble , from like back around 2011/12. It has worked flawlessly all these years and was fun to build.
In reloading a fresh version of Windows 10, I lost the software. Where can I find the needed software ? I believe it took three things . . . I think they were . . . PEOFKO-USB-Driver ver. 1.2.6.0 , CFGSR and EXTIO ver 1.1 . . . am I correct ??? I need to know if I got the three things needed correctly named ??? The site I have found on Internet, the links to download the software don't work. Thanks, Al |

I will look, I think I have it? I will try to find it, I have a bunch of those SoftRock radio's and kept all the info and the complete Yahoo file for the MOBO, SoftRock radio projects. If I find it might be best to send directly to you? Please let me know. Chuck Nolin WA6LTV On Thu, Dec 30, 2021 at 10:51 AM al2ok <al2@...> wrote:

Thanks to all that responded.
I have the 570 software installed and I remember ROCKY which I got too - now installed, but I am having an issue with this file ( PE0FKO-USB-Driver-Installer.exe v1.2.6.0 ) I also installed the FLEX software PowerSDR software. I can't seem to find away to .exe after I upzip the 1.2.6.0 version software and let it load . . . unless I got this all wrong . . . this thing setup perfect . . . 20 years ago !!! Like I said this RX Ensemble worked great from 2011 - 2018 . . . but it has been in a box since then and since I wanted to reload the software I thought it would be fun to get it going again . . . right now all I get is "hash" from my speakers when I open ROCKY. The ROCKY is doing nothing, it tunes but I hear nothing, etc. I think it is because of that version 1.2.6.0 software not being installed . . . I think ! Thanks to all . . . Al |

Again Thank You all,
I think but am not sure as I said the issue is that "driver" . . . called PE0FKO-USB-Driver-Installer.exe v1.2.6.0 , once I download it how do I know if it went where it suppose to ? I am remembeing the 2011 install after I built the kit . . . I downloaded three things . . . that was it . . . ROCKY, CFGSR_V2.6.msi installer ( not a 2.6 version it had a much lower version number in 2011 ) and the driver, PE0FKO-USB-Driver-Installer.exe v1.2.6.0 And . . . it worked !!! I don't remember "playing" with settings making sure anything went to certain files, etc. It just worked ! If I recall correctly. I'd open ROCKY then the 570 software making sure it was connected . . . and the kit worked ! now I have all three installed but that "driver" thing seems to be "floating in mid-air " ???? I think ??? Again Thanks, Al |

You should be able to open Windows Device Manager, look at your USB ports,

and see if it is using it. On Fri, Dec 31, 2021, 9:43 AM al2ok <al2@...> wrote:

Again Thank You all,Al, About all I can tell you is here Don't expect things to always be simple, sometimes a fair bit of experimenting is needed. 73 Alan G4ZFQ |
Well . . . I removed the 570 software and the driver called PE0FKO-USB-Driver and reloaded both, it looks like this has been OK . . . all along. I wanted to remove both to see what happens with the 570 driver that shows in the Device Manager.
It looks like the PE0FKO-USB-Driver is in that same driver that shows in my Device Manager or part of it after you load both the 570 and PE0FKO-USB-Driver. So it seems both things are under that one. If somebody thinks this is wrong . . . speak up ! I can control the 570, I can connect / disconnet it ,etc. via my PC but I can't get anything from the RX Ensemble in the way of signals, nor control it via PC. So . . . I guess the problem might be my "good old RX Ensemble " . . . I'll have to bring it to the bench ( the kitchen table ) and do some test on it someday. again Thanks to all for the help. I'll play with it on / off , if I get it going . . . I'll let ya know ! Al |

I have Rocky set up on my PC for checking operation of RX II and RXTX units that I have built. I would be happy to make sure your RX II board is playing properly if you would send it to me. Cost would only be the return postage expense. Regards, Tony, kb9yig On Jan 1, 2022, at 11:25 AM, al2ok <al2@...> wrote: |
Hey all !!!
I asked Tony a question about something I was not sure of, that "jack" called LINE IN on the RX Ensemble, see "old Al " thought he had this SDR hooked up correctly but no he did not. When I used this SDR prior to 2018 I had an older PC that had a "real STEREO IN" jack, that I remembered using after Tony told me earlier today . . . it is used ! I was not using it ! See my new PC only takes audio in via its USB ports . . . I use a box made by SEWELL to get mono (speaker) audio from my ham rig into the new PC using this SEWELL box, which outputs via a USB PORT OUT for my PC USB in. So I got to make up an "old fashion" cable that takes STEREO OUT ( of the LINE IN RX Ensemble jack ) and I will have to split it into a LEFT & RIGHT channel into the SEWELL box, since it handles STEREO IN on two jacks a L & R. Then I think this SDR will work. Al I |
