Re: homemade chebyshev 7th order BB band stop to begin soon
Yes, I picked up a modern gadget a little while back.... a TinySA.? I am astounded by what it can do.? Years ago, I had a boatanchor sized HP SA, but I believe this tiny unit does what it did and

Re: homemade chebyshev 7th order BB band stop to begin soon
Hi,
I have two grid-dippers (actually one is a gate-dipper) and I find that both of them are "approximate". We can get improved accuracy if we monitor the GDO oscillator with a good, stable receiver.

That's exactly what I am after too, not attenuating below about 530 Khz.? When you checked your inductances, were you matching whatever your software and/or calculator suggested for a particular

Re: homemade chebyshev 7th order BB band stop to begin soon
It may well be that you can just build it and be done. It depends on how picky you are about the results. I built many filters before I had an LCR meter. After getting the meter, I won't ever go

Re: homemade chebyshev 7th order BB band stop to begin soon
Tony,
Interesting note about LCR meters. No, I don't have one. I was under the impression that just building the filter would be sufficient. If the calculations the filter software produced are

Thanks for the kind words Guy.
Glad to help out. I certainly received lots of help and support here myself during my Softrock journey, and learned a great deal.

Re: homemade chebyshev 7th order BB band stop to begin soon
BTW, If you have an LCR meter I would definitely use it when winding the toroids. The published AL factors are an approximation at best. Getting the filter tuned correctly is hard enough without

I have the same situation with a broadcaster about a mile from here and living in the Denver suburbs. I have built many filters and never worried too much about orientation. I tend to lay mine out

Re: homemade chebyshev 7th order BB band stop to begin soon
I don't know.? There's a broadcast band station about 1.5 mi away that wreaks havoc on longwave (along with numerous other bb stations but much further away).? It also interferes on higher HF with

Re: Getting back in the game.. Cases?
If you can't find that case and know someone with a 3d printer, there is a case design for the RXTX ensemble on thingiverse.com

Re: homemade chebyshev 7th order BB band stop to begin soon
Just build it and it will be fine. You probably only need maybe 20 or 30 db of attenuation really. Also, I would recommend the Cauer filter. It will do the job with a lower order and fewer

What parts I didn't have are on the way to start construction of the chebyshev 7th order BB band stop filter.? The inductors will be a combination of ferrite and powdered iron toroids.? I'll be

Hi All,
I wanted to give a note of thanks for this group. Especially the ones who actually run the group (and I dont know who they are). Specifically:

RXTX Ensemble PA Bias Control
Hi all,
I am trying to understand the circuitry, which controls the bias of the PA. My reference circuit diagram is dated 8/14/10.
What I am assuming: Q5 / BS170 controls the 2N2222 collector supply
