And one more important question: is that need any special device to build the kit? I mean: signal generator, oscilloscope, ...?

Thanks again,

Ervin,

I cannot say exactly but a Google indicates that the 8.83MHz IF before the roofing filter is available at the rear. Is that the
first IF?
So a Softrock, maybe with an amplifier, will do the job.

I do not know what Linux software is able to work with CAT and a panadaptor. I guess any will work without displaying the actual
frequency.

Hi Alan,

thanks for the reply,

the 8.83MHz IF is the 2nd in TS850, and as I know, that's before the filters - so, I hope that's a wide band output. The Kenwood had been manufactured for this RIG's the special monitor device:

which loaded by that IF. The "spec" on that link said: "Bandscope ±25/100/250 kHz" - that sounds good.

It would be good to know, is that requires amplifier or not (on most description doesn't mention).

I see the available softwares, hope the Gqrx () will works - as I see, that supports the I/Q signals.

Thanks,

Re: Low power readings on an Ensemble RXTX,could it be a PTT problem?

A quick way to know if the RXTX is being keyed by the PTT signal is to measure the voltage on the hairpin of R35. The is the "S12" signal and it will be 0 volts in receive mode and 12V in transmit.

Another quick check if your 12 supply has a current meter is you will see the current draw increase go up dramatically when you switch to transmit.

But make sure you set up Rocky correctly first!

Re: Low power readings on an Ensemble RXTX,could it be a PTT problem?

Your setup sounds like it is connected in a way that should work. But I am not clear if you have setup Rocky correctly.

On the Settings/Audio screen I/Q Input Device should be set to the Line In of your external USB Card. Audio Output Device should be set to your internal laptop sound device. This will allow you to hear the received signals on your laptop speakers.

On Settings/Transmit you should set I/Q Output Device to the the device that corresponds to the Phones setting of your external USB card.

In other words, for the way you are connected, I/Q in and out should be from your external card and Audio Output should go to the laptop internal card.

Hope that helps

Everything checked out up to the power output testing.

Re: problems troubleshooting rxtx ensemble

Then you need to figure out how to select the correct soundcard input to be used by HDSDR.
There are 2 places to look at : 1. Windows sound mixer settings 2. HDSDR "Soundcard" and "Options" menus.

Info about SoftRock Lite II for IF monitoring

Ervin Hegedüs

Hello OM's,

I'm new on this list - and I'm a recurrent HAM :).

I have a Kenwood TS850, and I would like to see the 2nd IF spectrum. Can I do that with SoftRock Lite II? What should I need to order exactly?

I've wrote to Tony - he wrote, some RIG needs an amplifier to load the SoftRock. Use anybody this with another Kenwood, which similar to TS850?

I'm using Linux - which application can work with SoftRock Lite II?

Thanks for your help,

Re: problems troubleshooting rxtx ensemble

Yes, when I remove 12v, I get that pattern, then when I remove USB, I still get the same pattern.

Re: problems troubleshooting rxtx ensemble

Do you see the same patterns when you power down the Softrock?

problems troubleshooting rxtx ensemble

When I run HDSDR and try to receive with the rxtx, I receive the pattern shown in the image, no matter what frequency I am on. ?Help!

Go to this site...it's on the left side down the page.
This is the site where you should be for build instructions.

Hi Lee,
In the process of moving the 3 pin Molex from the amp Board to the
Driver. It got lost. Email me you address and I'lll send you one. (jcveatch1 at gmail dot com).
As for the wiring, the pin out is the same on both ends. So P1 =>
P1, P1 => P2 and P3 => P3. The connector should already be on the 3
conductor cable and the diagram in Step 9 of the instruction shows
where to solder each of the 3 conductors.
We should consider moving this topic to the ARRLHBC group as it
seems like a better forum for this discussion.

As for the wiring, the pin out is the same on both ends. So P1 => P1, P1 => P2 and P3 => P3. The connector should already be on the 3 conductor cable and the diagram in Step 9 of the instruction shows where to solder each of the 3 conductors.

We should consider moving this topic to the ARRLHBC group as it seems like a better forum for this discussion.

Re: Question on HardRock Driver asm/missing part

Jim,
OK, I have the driver done...except I still have a free end of the 3 conductor power cable.
I do have a 3 position molex with 3 pins for it.
?
How do I wire the power cable? I looked everywhere and I can't find the wiring step for the 3 pos.? molex power connector. I looked at the Schematic and it shows pins 1,2,3 but not enough info to build it.
?
Also, I do not have a 3 position header (for molex) in the driver or the amp BOM...so I think it's MIA.
?
Thanks,
Lee
