Re: Rocky and soundcards
Hello Alex
New version works in 48khz (very briefly checked), 96 khz comes up
but it sounds like there is a much lower sensitivity (there is some

I also have a 2 Khz wide unusable portion at the center of the passband. Mine is 30 db above the baseline, and the shape and bandwidth of the spike changes as I tune across the center frequency.

Re: Rocky
Very nice, Alex. Considering the quality and
innovative software you are known for, Rocky is a
winner. My only suggestion is a wider filter esp.

Re: Software for SR40
Try this also;
Go in the control panel and run the "Sound and Audio Devices"
Make sure all the voice and music devices are the sound card you want.

Re: Software for SR40
Hi Cecil,
You can move the operating frequency to the center of the display by dragging the frequency scale (the gray bar under the spectrum).

Re: Rocky
Rocky looks really nice. Started up perfectly, and controls are very easy to understand.
Now I just need my Softrock40, so i can get some sound out of this software.
Guess I???m among the last on

Rocky and soundcards
I apologize for the problems that Rocky has with some soundcard types. The WDM audio interface is poorly documented, and I had to do some trial and error work to make the code open my Delta44. Other

SR40 noise and spurs
Hello all.
Had noise and zero spur (DC...) that were wide and strong (rendered a
swat of 2 khz not usable around the LO freq.)
Saw among the photos what N1RX did with a battery driven SR40

80 meter softrock crystals
Was looking over Dan's Small Parts website and came across some 80 meter softrock crystals.
I have no affiliation, either direct or indirect with Dans.

Has anyone tried using surface mount components vs pin-in-hole to see if
there is any reduction in the above ? I'm using the external PS and will
try surface mount in a few days.

I don't see how you expect to hear any stations without an antenna
connected. You must get some kind of signal into the radio in order
to hear something. Do you have a transmitter that you could

I just got my Softrock40 kit assembled. I also wrote a GNURadio

Re: wide range tuned input circuit
Check out Yaesu FT101 parts on e-Bay. Just purchased a PT
preselector for $12. The Drake R4-B/C also had a PT front end but
parts are scarce and expensive.
I've seen similar at Fair Radio.
