There must be something missing on my PC but I have no idea what. My SR40 came in the mail today. Any help or ideas would be great.

Has deleting PowerSDR.mdb fixed this for everyone? Apparently I introduced something that makes the code confused when running against a prior PowerSDR.mdb file.
One could probably work around the MDB incompatibility by renaming your existing PowerSDR.mdb and then starting up PowerSDR, and importing the renamed DB via the config wizard.
Apologies for the glitch, and welcome to one of the joys of Software Defined Radio!

Try deleting the database, you will have to re-configure it, but it worked for me this morning CST

Yes, I was using 1.4.4.
I uninstalled 1.4.4, overwrote again with the new SR40 software.
Same problem.
Then I overwrote with the previous SR40 and all
is well again.
Something that at least 3 computers doesn't like
about the new version. I'm using XP with a Dell 2400/2.5g Pentium and
the Creative SB Live card that came with it selected as Unsupported Card,
MME on the Audio tab.

Sorry for doubling up, my client told me the email had not gone through. At 03:33 PM 9/19/2005, you wrote: I checked the new version this morning and it would not work. I tried the following;

Reinstalled the 9/17 and it would not work, I tried steps 2 and 3 several times and got the same result every time. 4. Deleted the database (PowerSDR.mdb), while 9/17 was installed, ran 9/17, it asked for the settings, I entered them, I when in and made some of the changes that installing doesn't set like the audio drivers settings and the SR-40 settings 5. 9/17 works fine now.
There could be something in the database that is different between 8/27 and 9/17

for PowerSDR. Nothing major, just some bug fixes. Specifically:
- Fixed problem using an SDR 1000 in fixed freq mode
- Fixed a potential glitch/hang in level calibration
with a SoftRock 40 - Fixed smooth panadapter scrolling when in fixed
freq mode

Hi Leon,
I have been trying to duplicate some of the problems various people have with Bill's new binary. Here are a couple of things to try.
Be sure to have Disable PTT checked on the General Tab of Setup. On the Setup Audio Tab select Buffer Size as 2048.
His latest code is running well on my 2.2 GHz Dell 2400 machine.

Bill, I downloaded the update and when I try to turn on the SDR software, I get no response and it goes imediately back to STANDBY. I do not have a SoftRock 40 hooked up yet. I don't think anything has changed on my system, but I will reboot and check everything out if that doesn't fix it. Any ideas? The previous versions worked fine.
I get a constant loud rough-sounding dit-dah-dit..., without anything connected. I still get it when playing one of the wav files.

I have not received my softrock40 yet, but I have built quite a lot
with SMD components.
I use an old Weller TCP 50W . The kind that "clicks".
For IC:s I use the standard "fat" tip. I just solder all the legs with
a lot of solder. Almost all of the legs becomes bridged :-). Then I use
a solder-wick to suck up all the solder, and suddenly it looks really
professional. The capillary force holds the tin under the legs. It
works all the time and is easy, even with my fat fingers.
For legless components I use a very sharp tip. I tin one pad (The
solder-wick is really useful here too. You only need a minimum of
solder) and press the component down with a small screwdriver while I
melt the solder. Then it is easy to solder the rest of the pads.

OK, it's working. I DID NOT have the "Fixed HW Osc" box
checked with the new "overlay". I thought I had done
that.

I saw you were having trouble with Bill's latest software so I just now downloaded it and updated my system to check it out. It came up without any problem. I wonder if you have the latest PowerSDR 1.4.4 installed or if you are using a previous version? It seems to be working fine here without a receiver attached. Remember to select the "Hardware Oscillator" option under Setup, SoftRock.

I've posted a few updates to the SoftRock updates
for PowerSDR. Nothing major, just some bug fixes. Specifically:
- Fixed problem using an SDR 1000 in fixed freq mode
- Fixed a potential glitch/hang in level calibration
with a SoftRock 40 - Fixed smooth panadapter scrolling when in fixed
freq mode

Hi Don,
?
I have built over forty of the various verision of
the SoftRock40 and use a little 12 watt Weller Model WM 120 that I bought some
months ago at Fry's in Indy.??A toothpick makes a very good tool for
positioning the SMT parts while I nail down one pin of an IC or one end of a
cap.
?
Good luck with your kit build.

Re: Fresh Software - 20050917 level
Yes, I was using 1.4.4. I uninstalled 1.4.4, overwrote again with the new SR40 software. Same problem. Then I overwrote with the previous SR40 and all is well again. Something that at least 3 computers doesn't like about the new version. I'm using XP with a Dell 2400/2.5g Pentium and the Creative SB Live card that came with it selected as Unsupported Card, MME on the Audio tab. Dan,
??? I have the Weller WESD51 and like it really well. Caught it
on sale last year. There are quite a few alternatives out there that are less
expensive though. I'm sure you'll be swamped with suggestions just
shortly.
