JPG is for photos. Try PNG for diagrams, it's cleaner and no bigger files for diagrams.

The problem with Flickr is they have to be public.. Some of the images in the files section are copyright (e.g. scans from magazines).

The best solution is to migrate them all to and resize if necessary, Some of the images are probably a lot bigger than they need to be and JPG compression has improved a lot since 2001.

My feeling is (if it can be done) is to place the photos and files in a repository of some sort e.g Flicker or similar

Then you can link from Groups.io or whatever platform is in current use, the files and photos become future proof.

This way only the discussion/meeting platform requires changing as technology moves on.(this is the current situation with this group)

This is done in online teaching, having gone through a number of platform changes, having the photos and files hosted elsewhere was very handy.

kind regards

As I have stated before moving this group to is not without its challenges.? The volume of photos and files exceeds the space allowed on so some trimming would be required and setting up a couple of groups on to handle everything.? Some of this I have started.

The auxiliary file groups would not be a problem to transfer.? If the owner wants to make the move it can be done.

Hi John,

Well from my experience the entire process is painless.

Everything stays the same and the user does not have to do anything.

Very little effort is required by the owner of the group either.

Groups.io do all the hard work and transfer all the files.

The users get an email stating that the group will be moving and once moved another email to say that it has now moved..

The user can then log on and all the emails are sent to whatever email address was used by Yahoo

?

It¡¯s all in the hands of the owner.
