Re: Birding along American River Parkway

Thanks for sharing this, Subhash. I've already signed the petition, and I'm a little embarrassed that it never occurred to me to share it with this list.

Re: Yellow-breasted Chat
Thanks for the kind words, all. To answer some questions, I use a Sony RX10MIV high end bridge camera with internal 600mm equiv zoom.? This shot is not crisp because it was low light and highly cropped.? Below is the shot before post-processing. Rich, yes the bird did sing for me.? To my untrained ear it sounds rather jay-like.? I am attaching my phone recording which BIRDnet validated.? I have to admit I find that to my ear a lot of the local birds don't sound much like their Merlin recordings.? Local dialects? Troy |

开云体育Want to echo Richard's comment, Troy, it's an awesome picture of the YBC. I was lucky enough to see one along Putah Creek in West Davis last week. Thanks,? I do remember that, Catherine! But unfortunately as I said, we didn’t see a pair- Morris did that double exposure of the same bird to show him in thought and in action! ?

I had a pair at my feeder last year, and I remember you were a little envious, Di. ? I’m glad they graced you with their presence this year.

The Merlin app told us they are very common this time of year in our area but it was the first one we had ever seen in our yard before. Just a single bird – the third photo is a double exposure Morris made of him looking up and then jumping…..

How wonderful ... the hoot is so beautiful. I used to hear them on cold winter nights in a nearby oak tree, but sadly haven't heard them for a very long time. Thank you for sharing! Lynn On Sun, Apr 25, 2021 at 2:22 PM Peggy Andrews <peggy.andrews@...> wrote:
