Re: trying to read data on a kenwood 851 repeater
I changed frequency to 442.100. But not sure about the crackle. I tried it here and didn't notice any noise on RX. Give me a call later on tomorrow, since leaving soon.

Re: trying to read data on a kenwood 851 repeater
The repeater has a noise on receive like bacon frying. Not sure what is causing that. I can give you a call if you want to listen to it. kind of a crackling noise. I haven't tried adjusting anything

Re: trying to read data on a kenwood 851 repeater
yes, works fine. nvda is the best, although works with window-eyes as well. Butch Bussen wa0vjr wa0vjr@... irlp 7135 allstar 56023 echolink 790800 new home phone 785 852-1102

Re: trying to read data on a kenwood 851 repeater
See, I told you lol. Glad it works. I had the incorrect model type when I tried to program it here, but just hit enter it went anyway with the serial cable. Chad Nelson WI9HF/WRPL979 Janesville

Re: trying to read data on a kenwood 851 repeater
That was one of my questions I actually had and you might have just answered it for me, but, does your Windows XP box work with the KPG 91D software? Chad Nelson WI9HF/WRPL979 Janesville Wisconsin

Re: quantar use for 2meter repeater
Which version RSS are you using? Access needs to be set to pl, cor, etc...and it needs to be set as a repeater, not base as mentioned earlier [email protected]> wrote:

Re: Heliax
LDF5 was replaced with AVA5P and as noted, the older connectors are not compatible. The center remains hollow however. Matt AL0R Sent: Saturday, May 10, 2025 11:25 To: [email protected]

Re: trying to read data on a kenwood 851 repeater
The computer I usually use doesn't have a serial port and I can't find my usb to serial adapter, so fired up my old xp machine with a for real serial port. Thanks all for your help. Good to know about

Re: trying to read data on a kenwood 851 repeater
See Chris's comments about the fuse. BTW, the only reason to use the mic jack is if you're updating the firmware (or don't want to otherwise with the rear panel DB25). Good to hear you're good to go

Re: trying to read data on a kenwood 851 repeater
I tried it on serial port on the back and it works, for some reason, not on the mike connector on the front which is what I use on my other repeaters. Thanks. Butch Bussen wa0vjr wa0vjr@... irlp

Re: trying to read data on a kenwood 851 repeater
If the RJ mic jack has been shorted there is a 0ohm resistor that acts as a fuse...if it's blown, the program cable won't work..you can always use the DB25 Chris WB5ITT [email protected]> wrote:

Re: trying to read data on a kenwood 851 repeater
I will weigh in with my resolution, I've always used a 25 pin serial cable the back of the repeater on the 25 pin accessory port and that's always worked fine. Chad Nelson WI9HF/WRPL979 Janesville

trying to read data on a kenwood 851 repeater
I thought my software for my 850 would work, but it says check radio model, retry. Does it take a different program? Thanks. Butch Bussen wa0vjr wa0vjr@... irlp 7135 allstar 56023 echolink
