Re: THREAT TO 222-225MHz Spectrum
Consider this is a test of our resolve by those who stand to gain financial
gain from the selling of the spectrum. They will infringe on the known
spectrum of radio amateurs to see how many squawk

Hi all,
I have the TPL PA6-1AE UHF repeater amp in stock here. Curious if anyone
knows if the imput drive can be adjusted to support 10W drive instead of 5W?
A radio tech looked at it and said

Re: THREAT TO 222-225MHz Spectrum
I consider this a National Threat because it started in Los Angeles where it’s cause great interference to the 222-225MHz spectrum and is now moving to Southwestern Arizona. Please remember Amateur

Re: THREAT TO 222-225MHz Spectrum
+1 to that.
You know, the ARRL isn't the end-all, be-all of amateur radio. No reason that a well-meaning group couldn't start another national association and weed out the corporate

Re: Quantar Extender Cables
Uh, what? You've got a bent up chassis then. I've never had issues like that and I've worked on hundreds of the things. The SCM and WL cards can be a bit of a pain but still don't require that level

Re: Antenna Thoughts and Suggestions
For temporary, I would just install a Comet GP3 dual band antenna. We had one at about 250 ft for 30 yrs with no problems in operation. When our DB224 antenna failed we moved the repeater over to

Re: Antenna Thoughts and Suggestions
Get a duplexer and go with the DB408 at the top...don't use LMR cable...get
1/2 in or bigger HELIAX...
Later you could install a remote HF radio to the UHF rptr since you are in
a HOA ...would require

Re: Antenna Thoughts and Suggestions
By removing the tip on the DB-408, and putting the Ringo on, you are
decreasing the lightning protection. Also, by putting the ringo on, you
are also inviting lightning. I would instead, just

Re: Antenna Thoughts and Suggestions
In my opinion, the DB408 is a good choice, and the ringo, a bad choice.
What is your plan for permanent frequency? 440?

Re: Antenna Thoughts and Suggestions
Bill, 2 meter frequency’s are hard to come by in Texas. You are better off going with UHF. With the height you are stating it will work well.
Have you made the application for a frequency from the

Re: 6 m repeater antenna
The trick is to start with where you go far enough from the exposed end where you find the braid that is still shiny, just solder through goop and use silver plated not nickel plated connectors,

Yes indeed, so do I after the length is determined with a hose clamp. Easier to waterproof the connection and less ice accumulation.

Re: Quantar Extender Cables
Actually, that's pretty f@#$ing clever. What I would REALLY like to find, is the heavy nylon pry-tool that M made to pull the modules out of the chassis.
What I currently use is a square wooden dowel

Re: THREAT TO 222-225MHz Spectrum
I’m sure the ARRL is sitting there, wringing their hands and planning the next batch of mailings to go out and pander for additional funds.
