As I mentioned before, I have a UHF Ranger, and it works very well, in a high RF neighbourhood, probably due to the helical resonator front end. ALSO THE C.H.P. HASOn 6 meters??? THERE ARE MANY WAYS OF EASIALLY FILTERING THEM. ISERIOUSLY DOUBT THAT A BABY MONITOR COULD CAUSE PROBLEMS. YOU CANNOT DUPLEX A PLL RADIO THEY MUST BE XTAL OR YOU NEED TO USE TWO OF THEM . ANYONE WHO DOESNT WANT THEIR RANGERS JUST SEND THEM TO ME ILL SUFFER WITH THEM. ALSO THE C.H.P. HAS ABOUT 5000 OF THESE IN THEIR FLEET THEY MUST BE O.K.. CHUCK WD6APP -----Original Message-----

I do not have the list handy but it is a 100 watt UHF unit. The 7 is the
power and the 4 is 406 to 512 MHz. Rich WA8DBW Chuck k wrote: From: Chuck k <chuckk@...>-- Richard D. Reese WA8DBW |

I don't have the exact spec here, but I recall that the RANGR has a

rather low duty cycle. I've also never heard of one getting overloaded so easily - especially by milliwatt power transmitters! The CTCSS is controlled by a micro and cannot be used simultaneously for encode and decode. For that matter, neither can the TX and RX. Joe, KR3P Tedd Doda wrote:

Decibel Products DB-224s on sale
DPW
To All,
I just ordered a new DB-224 from a company in S. Florida called Marketronics. The price was $364.00 plus shipping. These things list for over $500.00. I thought if anyone is building a repeater, here is a great antenna for it at a good price. Marketronics Corporation 1-800-845-1230 Janine Ext. 244 I hope this helps. It seems you can never have too many sources for such things. David Waters, AC4JF |

THE RANGER WONT MAKE A RPT UNLESS YOU USE TWO OF THEM. HOWEVER THEY ARE ONEI was talking to a GE service rep., and he also said that 2 are required because of the PLL only doing TX or RX at one time. ALSO ARE THEY AVAILABLE TO OTHER PEOPLE OR WHAT?I think so. Supposedly, the 2 people that are selling them got a skid load of them from a local police force that moved to 800 Mhz trunking. If anyone is interested, I'll see what his policy is about shipping them (they are currently in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada). AGAIN DONT LET THEM SLIP BY THEY ARE AN EXTREMELY GOOD RADIO.One of the things that Reg (the GE tech) said was that the Ranger has absolutely NO front end filtering. He had a Ranger in his car for 6 meters, and noticed signals on the radio that weren't on the repeater. He then concluded that the front end must have been getting overloaded by all the baby monitors and 49 Mhz cordless phones. He then installed a GE Delta, and all the noise disappeared. Is this a common problem with the Rangers? Tedd Doda CET packet va3sed@va3sed e-mail lazer@... |

6m solid state transmitter strip?
w7ntf@aol.com
I apologize for this being a bit off-topic, however repeater builders should
have a bunch of goodies laying around which would serve my purpose nicely. I'm putting together a six meter propagation beacon here in Washington State, and am in need of a solid state transmitter strip that can be keyed for continuous beacon service. I want to run straight CW, simply an on/off carrier keyed at about 8-10wpm... I am hoping for something in the 25-100w range, but am flexible. Can anyone spare something from their junk box? 12vdc operation and a schematic or other associated documentation would be a plus. I plan to put the beacon transmitter on the low end of six meters, below 50.1, frequency yet to be determined. I hope to mount the tranmitter strip and memory keyer on a blank 19" rack panel. Please let me know what you have and your terms. Thanks in advance. 73, de Gary, W7NTF |

To answer Bob's question about getting a list of all the subscribers: YES!
On your member center page ( go to < and login, then click the "Member center" button) click on the USS_Chicago link under "List Center" then select "Member Profiles". Finally, run outside and rotate the tires on your car.... No wait, skip that last step... This should give you a list of all the users on the list (24 at last count) Joe |

I am getting this group from down here in New Zealand, and if this group is anything to go by, it should be going into every country, thanks to Kevin for adding it to the newsgroups. On the subject, Kevin mentions that this server will accept attachments, so hopefully we might see some circuits being posted. Hope to catch, or hear from everyone as the group grows more and more. Regards Kevin, ZL1UDD. Owner, Operator South Auckland Repeater Group. 29.64, 145.775, 147.325, 438.250, 428.575, 1291.100. Using Link-Comm RLC-2a and RLC-3 controllers with DVR and Remote Auto-Patch. PS. I am looking for equipment to run on 1296MHz as a repeater, I understand there is a mod to convert 430MHz equipment up to this freq. Come to mention it, I am always on the look out for reasonable priced equipment to use as portable repeaters and full duplex links. Cristobal Inos wrote: From: Cristobal Inos <soni@...> |
