I HAVE ONE ON A MOUNTAIN 3500 FEET NO PROBLEM. YES THEY ARE WIDE BAND. BUT
THERE ARE MANY WAYS OF EASIALLY FILTERING THEM. ISERIOUSLY DOUBT THAT A
BABY MONITOR COULD CAUSE PROBLEMS. YOU CANNOT DUPLEX A PLL RADIO THEY MUST
BE XTAL OR YOU NEED TO USE TWO OF THEM . ANYONE WHO DOESNT WANT THEIR
RANGERS JUST SEND THEM TO ME ILL SUFFER WITH THEM. ALSO THE C.H.P. HAS
ABOUT 5000 OF THESE IN THEIR FLEET THEY MUST BE O.K..

I was talking to a GE service rep., and he also said that
2 are required because of the PLL only doing TX or RX at
one time.

ALSO ARE THEY AVAILABLE TO OTHER PEOPLE OR WHAT?
I think so. Supposedly, the 2 people that are selling them
got a skid load of them from a local police force that moved
to 800 Mhz trunking. If anyone is interested, I'll see what
his policy is about shipping them (they are currently in
Hamilton, Ontario, Canada).

AGAIN DONT LET THEM SLIP BY THEY ARE AN EXTREMELY GOOD RADIO.
One of the things that Reg (the GE tech) said was that the
Ranger has absolutely NO front end filtering. He had a Ranger
in his car for 6 meters, and noticed signals on the radio
that weren't on the repeater. He then concluded that the
front end must have been getting overloaded by all the baby
monitors and 49 Mhz cordless phones.

He then installed a GE Delta, and all the noise disappeared.

Is this a common problem with the Rangers?
