Re: Looking for advice on antenna placement for our radio club repeaters.

No problem,? I? understand about the stroke..had an older brother who suffered one before he passed..
I stilll have several Spectrum VHF, 2 - 220, as well as a home built UHF I got from a ham in El Paso 25 yrs ago.. the RF boards probably aren't worth a flip but at least the CW ID and COR boards are.. I just usually use an external controller anyway, gives me more versatility
Plus a Kendecomm on 220.. I did Micor conversion once but I wasn't impressed. I prefer the GE Master IIs myself.. did a couple of those and they turned out great. In fact the UHF Exciter is easier to convert to 220 than the VHF Exciter.
I has a cushcraft 4 pole on 220 but lost the elements via a theft at a tower site they were stored. Funny thing is I still have the harness. Never did like the crimp connectors on them.

I guess I need to kind of thin The Herd though. If anybody's interested in the 220 harness, I'll sell it because I don't need it. I can make my own finances up out of RG11 and 213..

And if anybody's interested in the Spectrum control boards or cor board, let me know again I don't need them.

My IFR A8000 is on the blink because the power supply died.? Been needing to get it working again so I can finish tuning up a UHF duplexer so I can ship that off asap! If I recall I can run it off the 12 volt input and I just found a square fuse cap for the back thanks to a friend of mine down on the road. Going to try and see if that works today or I'll just take it over to my friend's house who has a HP VNA but he's got a new girlfriend and you know what that means LOL

Yes ?you are correct t it is?a ?hustler?G7-220 antenna.
?I¡¯m a stroke survivor typing does not always translate from my thoughts. After it posted I saw it said g6-200 which does not exist lol
?I ?do have a g6-144. Here at the house.on a ?spectrum SCR-77 2 meter machine.

I have 3 220 machines 2 are Spectrum SCR-1000¡¯s. The 3rd one is a converted Micor.
And all 3 have kendecom. I believe the PA-100 100 watt amps on them. And GLB preamp preselectors on the front ends
I have PD 220 stationmasters?on the other 2-220 machines
I loved the old cushcraft 4 pole on my first 220 machines I.
?Hard to find them these days. Still have a 4 pole cushcraft on one of my 440 machines. It still works but I want to find and replace the harness on it before it fails over 30 years old.. it must be nearing its EOL

Hustler G7-220....only G6 they make is 2m or dual band?

A Spectrum SCR 1000! Glad to see it's still chugging along. I knew Joe DeCorsella , I think I spelled that right, from there start in the '70s. I have an S7R on 220 myself but I've got to recrystal it for my new pair.. same RF boards anyway. Tuned up properly they just work. Always has great audio!

You would be better off finding an old 450-470 db loop style db408 for the GMRS machine. Most two way radio shops have them laying around fakes down from commercial sites. I picked up 3 of them for under $100 each.
This is my 220 site on a hustler g6-200 and the GMRS next to it on my 106 foot cow crank up tower.
And my cabinet with the Motorola GMRS repeaters and my trusty soectrum 220 machine

712EFC is not a repeater antenna.? It's a base antenna not made for duplex operation.?? It has braided copper coax inside.?? That's why Comet calls them base antennas.? You will find the issue as duplex noise.

Out club has a 55 foot tower on top of a high point in our county. We are in the process of upgrading the feedline and replacing the antennas. Our coverage for the current 2M/440 antenna at the top was excellent before we had feedline issues. We also currently have a Comet CX-333 tri band antenna side mounted on the tower. The base of CX-333 about 16 feet below the top of the tower. It has had decent coverage on 220 in the past but has recently degraded the last year. It will only be used for 220 operations. The reason for the tri-bander is that it has served as a backup antenna for the top 2M/440 currently and in the past due to antenna / feedline failure.

?

The club is adding a GMRS repeater to the site and the main question I have is, what is everyone¡¯s opinion of side is mounting a Comet CA-712EFC directly opposite the 220 Tri bander. ?Both standoffs are around 2.5 ¨C 3 feet off each side of the tower.

?

Also is there a rule of thumb on how much separation I should have from the top of the two side mounted antennas to the base of the top antenna?

?

This is what I have for the install:

Top of Tower - Comet GP-9 GP9N 2m/440 fed with 7/8 superflex ¨C 25 watts

Side Mount - Comet CX-333 (Used for 220Mhz) fed with 7/8 superflex ¨C 10 watts

Side Mount - Comet CA-712EFC (GMRS) Fed with ? superflex ¨C 25 watts

?
