There is a significant difference between the 750/850 and the 751/851 in the speced output power ranges. The 750 range is 25 - 50W, the 850 range is 25 - 40W, and the the 751/851 range is 1 - 25W. As Ken mentioned, the 750/850 are not speced to run 100% duty cycle above 25W, while the 751/851 will run 100% up to their max of 25W.
Also, the service manuals are not identical. The receiver alignment is the same, but I suspect the transmitter section is different, however I have not verified that.
I personally prefer the 751/851 when driving an amplifier due to the lower power output range.

There is a good comparison in the TKR section of RB. Basically the TKR851 is the same vintage as the TKR850 version 2 which gives a few improved? features that the TKR850 version (1) does not have, including different, improved? programming software.(KPG91)
?Very nice repeater with great repeat audio if you use the built in controller which only does CW ID , hang time and time out as well as TT control of repeat disable/ enable- just the very basic control.

The 751/851 were originally the "European" versions but JVCKenwood brought them into the US market a few years before the line was discontinued.
The ONLY difference between the 750/850 and the 751/851 was the maximum power - 25 watts but it was spec'd at continuous duty at this level (same as the 750/850). Also, there was never such a thing as a non Version2 751/851 as they shared most of the hardware and firmware with the Version 2 750/850.
And they all use the KPG-91D software
Hope this helps

I have a Kenwoot TKR 851 UHF repeater for sale. It is a 25W unit but set for 12 watts since I was told the last owner used it on an amp. Repeater is in good shape although I never put it on the air but I was told it works great.
$600 shipped.
Thanks
Chad
