Re: N1FN LOG FOR HUNT 1 0215 entry is wrong
Bill Phillips
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi Marshall,
This is Bill, AD6JV in Virginia. Thanks
for a jolly chase Thursday (FridayZ).? We worked at 0135 and I'm in your
log correctly.
You worked Dan in CA at 0215 and have him logged also as
AD6JV.? I can't remember his call, but what you've got in your log for him
is wrong.
You always have a good signal here in
Charlottesville.

Hounds: Check Initial Fox Logs ASAP!
n9ne_todd
Greetings from your friendly scorekeeper:
IF you are competing for pelts this winter in the 40M and/or 80M hunts, it is imperative that you carefully check the initial Fox logs which will usually be posted within 24 hours after the hunt. Make certain that your callsign and/or the callsigns of your team members is/are correct. Ascertain, for example, that a 0 (zero) is not posted as on O (oh). Check the prefixes and suffixes. Once the initial log has remained on the reflector for a day or two, the Fox will deem it as final, and I will take it for processing. Hound and Fox tallies will be computed each week and cumulative totals compiled. These data, as well as team totals, will be posted weekly on QFOX. Since becoming scorekeeper in summer, 2004, I have noted a significant number of hounds who have garnered only one pelt out of 20 or 40 possible during the season. Some of these calls are almost identical to callsigns associated with significant pelt totals. For example, KA0AAA might have 25 pelts, and down at the bottom of the list is WA0AAA with one pelt. It seems obvious that KA0AAA did not check the initial log and therefore allowed the icorrectly-recorded WA0AAA callsign to remain on the final log. (I do not assume to make these corrections myself in the face of incomplete documentation.) Once the weekly processing occurs, it becomes very onerous for me to go back and make requested corrections after the fact. So please, for your satisfaction, error-free tallies, and my peace of mind, do your part and make certain the message you sent is correctly posted by the Fox. If it is different, contact the Fox directly so appropriate changes can be made immediately! We had a fantastic initial turnout Thursday evening with excellent conditions and many pelts taken. The ten-week-long 80 meter hunt will begin Tuesday evening, November 29. Watch QFOX for coming details. Thanks, all, for assisting me in scoring these hunts! Best regards, Todd N9NE Scorekeeper |

but I'm logged as W6JHP. I've got a question I wanted to ask your opinion on. Your signal was improving as the last 1/2 went by. Would it have been annoying if I'd worked you again to be sure I was in the log? I know I didn't go after Lloyd again as his signal grew, convinced he had me and I didn't need to waste his time. Thanks, ET 72/73 Kip W6KIP -----Original Message----- |
N1FN LOG FOR HUNT 1
Here's a first pass at typing up my log for last night. Have to say my paper
log well and truly reflected the band condx-- fiarly easy to read for the first 50 minutes or so then a mess of cross-outs and scribbles. What fun! Actually, it was an excellent hunt right up till the last few minutes when I had the same problems everybody else did. Worth doing again sometime [g] Please correct any typos by direct e-mail...
