FOX: Prelininary Log for WB4X
Hello everyone,
Below is my log for the January 6, 2005 Fox Hunt. The hunt started out great. I could hear a large pack of hounds and lost most of the pelts in the first half hour. In the second half hour the band conditions really deteriorated and only 9 pelts given. That's the good part, in the last full hour, only 8 pelts. There were several stations that were trying really hard. One that deserves mention AB5CA. I got his call several times Q5 but could never get his RPT. I appreciate everyone who participated. I had a great time and look forward to the next hunt. 72 Brent WB4X 0200 AA5TB 559 TX Steve 5w 0201 KG4FSN 559 FL Juan 5w 0202 W5YR 559 TX George 5w 0203 AA7EQ 559 AL Bob 5W 0204 N1TP 559 FL Tom 5w 0205 W0NTA 559 CO Dick 5w 0206 N9NE 579 WI Todd 5w 0206 N1FN 559 CO ET 5w 0207 K5JHP 559 TX Bill 5w 0209 K4THL 559 FL Tom 5w 0210 KI0II 559 CO Ron 5w 0211 WA0ITP 559 IA Terry 5w 0212 KJ0C 559 MO Jim 5w 0214 K5ZTY 559 TX Bill 5w 0215 KK5WD 559 TX WP 5w 0216 K6VNX 559 CA Arlen 5w 0217 W7SW 559 AZ Scotty 5w 0218 WA9TZE 339 WI Jim 5w 0219 N0RC 559 CO Rod 5w 0220 AC7A 559 AZ Tom 5w 0221 AC5JH 559 OK Tom 5w 0222 W0CH 559 MO Dave 5w 0223 K0EVZ 579 MN Doc 4w 0224 W0IIT 559 KS Bart 5w 0226 K5SR 559 TX Dale 5w 0228 KL7V/5 329 OK Sam 5w 0229 W5TB 559 TX Doc 5w 0230 W5USJ 559 TX Chuck 5w 0231 K6XR 559 CA Reg 5w 0232 KR0U 559 CO Tim 5w 0233 K5DI 559 NM Karl 5w 0241 K0MAX 559 MN Max 5w 0244 AK5X 559 TN Bill 5w 0247 W9XU 559 WI Lon 5w 0248 W9LR 559 WI Bill 5w 0253 W2MY 559 TX Steve 5w 0259 K5BGB 559 TX Rod 5w 0303 N3CK 529 FL Charlie 75w 0305 KZ5J 559 TX Pam 3w 0312 K4GXY 559 FL John 5w 0322 W5JAY 559 AR JW 5w 0324 N9AW 559 WI Jerry 5w 0326 NK9G 559 WI Rick 5w 0339 KD5JAM 559 TX Lee 5w 0357 N5ZE 559 TX Lew 5w 0400 N0AR xxx MN Scott 5w 0400 WB4X xxx NC Brent 5w |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýBill,
?
??? I had the same problem as well. I have a 40M delta loop up
2 whole days before Mother Nature pulled it apart at the feedpoint. So, I
crawled up on the roof like an idiot, with a butane soldering pencil in 30 MPH
winds to put it back together. I was desperate to get on SKN!! That didn't
happen either because of bad batteries in my 817 causing all kinds of noise...
So, putting together a home station just hasn't been my bag o'tricks lately!!
Luckily the mobile HF is working FB...

fox was more than I expected, so I'll be back. All 3 of my antennas were damaged during the last "big" storm - actually had one 30 ft mast bend in half. Anyway, this time at least, I have an excuse for not doing better. I'll try not to ride this horse too long. :-) I am located in Escondido and was using a "broken" 80+ meter loop...I guess it's an off cf zepp now. After four consecutive double-pelt weeks, I was really disappointed
about being skunked last night until I saw N0AR's log on QRP-L. He only made 19 contacts. That's a clear indication of what conditions were like. I never heard a peep out of either fox, and only heard a couple of stations calling. There's always next week! Kent, AE4Y |

WB4X Fox for Thursday 01/06/05
I am pleased to be one of your Foxes along with Scott N0AR for this Thursday night's Fox Hunt. I will be operating between 7.030 and 7.050mhz. I may be operating split frequency to start, listening up 1-2khz as band conditions dictate. If you hear me send "up", you'll know. This is my first time as Fox. I have to admit I'm a little nervous. HI
I am located in Stoneville, NC. It is a small town in Rockingham county 25 miles north of Greensboro, NC. I will be using a K2 and Hustler 6BTV along with a low 40 meter dipole for the close in stations. Hope for good band conditions and Good Luck to everyone. Have Fun, Brent WB4X |
