I say keep doing your maps.? And thank you for what you do.? Some find it helpful.? Is there anyone paying for E-mail by the message anymore?

I like the maps and look forward to viewing them. Fritz live maps are good but not always available AND some Foxii do not use his maps.

Thanks for the charts, Randy. As usual they are very informative. As to your question about the RBN maps, anyone can make them post-hunt and avoids skirting the rules on external assistance. If the hounds just listen to the Fox and the pileups, they can usually tell how the propagation is changing. ?

Randy,

As a fairly new guy to the hunts, I’m really fine just looking up the hunts on the Fritz Map. I know some foxes don’t log to Fritz, but I can get my fix of knowing how well the hunt went by seeing the map afterwards from those who log contacts. Just my opinion of course.

Brian, I'm sorry I couldn't pull you out.? I did hear a signal above me when I was simplex, but it faded out quickly.? The signals got pretty weak and the noise went up towards the end of the hunt.? I had to use my beverage.? Thanks for trying!

I could hear several of your callers and saw a very faint trace on the waterfall about 1 kHz down but couldn’t pull a signal out of the noise: S2 in a 150 Hz BW.?

I was on 3552 for the entire hunt went simplex after about fifty minutes.

Lots of QRN and static crashes from nearby rainstorm. A tough night. I was hoping for some west coast hounds.

Thanks to everyone!? Signals were pretty good at the beginning of the hunt, and I was able to get some west coast hounds.? The band started dropping and got noisier.? I switched to the beverage.? I was on 3.564.30 Mhz the whole time and went simplex around 0255z.? I am sorry I just couldn't pullout Steve's, K9TA, state right at the end.? I had an 80W hound that I have pulled out of the log.? Let me know of any errors in the log.? Thanks again to everyone.

Well-family schedule has struck again. I’ll have to line up a sub for my shift next Tuesday on 40.  Also to be honest I wasn’t looking forward to this as with DST kicking in on Sunday my entire shift would be in daylight which is a prescription for a
less than optimal outcome on 40 especially given my northern latitude. Local sunset will be at 02:20 UTC and being further north total darkness won’t be for a while later. Local noise generally decreases a lot by around 03:30-0400 and then 40 becomes a nice band into the Midwest and east coast while still having good short hops. Hopefully see you all on 20 in the summer. Thanks.

Tomorrow night I will be your 40m fox, along with Steve WD4DFN. We will be prowling around between 7.030 and 7.050 MHz from 9 -10:30 PM Eastern, aiming to give out lots of pelts! I'll be running my K3 at 5w to my 40m dipole.

I will start out split, as always, and will transition to simplex if and when the pack thins out. There are often a few hounds who miss that transition. The signal is very subtle:? when split I send "CQ FOX AJ1DM UP" and when simplex "CQ FOX AJ1DM K". Pay close attention so you are transmitting on the frequency that I'm most likely to hear and thus most likely to give you a pelt!

Having said that, spread your QRG's so I can dissect the pack as quickly as possible. Zero-beaters make terrible hunters!!

I will be your 80M fox again along with Dave, N1IX, tomorrow evening.? I am located in Nashville, TN, and we are forecasted to have better weather than Tuesday night.? I will be running an IC-7610 at 5W into a 140' Doublet up about 45'.? I also have a beverage that I plan to use also.? Look for us between 3.550-3.570 Mhz between 8pm CST to 930 CST (0200-0330z). ?I will start calling CQ?FOX?de?WD4CFN?UP, then just?WD4CFN?UP.?I will be listening up 1-2Khz, but I will go simplex if/when things slow down. ??I will send your call twice on the first exchange and again with a "TU".??Let me know if I make a mistake in your call.??I plan to use Fritz's mapping software.?
