KB Scale/Roy Link wagons, A little extra weight? 4
Hello All, Can anyone advise if the KB Scale wagon kits benefit from adding a little extra weight for improved running, or is it not necessary? Is there a target axle weight that anyone works to? Thanks in advance for sharing your experience. Neil.

Lionheart L&B Manning Wardle 8
Richard at Lionheart have advised me that he has received the quotation from the factory for the 14mm locomotive wheel sets, which has an MOQ of 100 sets. Unfortunately he considers that this figure to be too high, together with the complicated and difficult assembly, so they shall not be offering this conversion. For background I did I trial conversion for Richard of the standard wheels he supplied with 14mm axles and although the back-to-back was correct the flanges were quite fat so the wheels came out over gauge. Hence the need for special wheels with finer flanges. I don't know if this decision can be changed with a firm commitment of numbers. Regards John

Lionheart L&B Models for O14
Further to the earlier messages regarding the Lionheart loco and O14 I have news. O14 isn’t commercially viable – but then you knew that didn’t you? For the loco's O14 wheelsets would have cost them ?25 a set for a minimum order of 100 with fitting not being straightforward ["Not for the faint hearted" is the public phrase, questionable parentage was used as the description on the phone] The result is that Dapol/Lionheart won't be producing O14 wheelsets for the loco and will only produce O14 coach wheelsets to my order. In both loco and coaches it isnt as simple as pushing the wheels in a bit John Clutterbuck, Richard Webster and I aren't happy with this state of affairs and I spent a long while on the phone with Richard this morning discussing ways forward. Samples of loco and parts are en route to me and there will be more conversations in the coming days. The chances are that any solution to provide O14 will be available from me and not Lionheart and be a limited time/quantity thing but I am not prepared to give it up without a push. I'll finish with two appeals and then add a final note 1/ If you know of any O14 modellers who have ordered there loco other than from me suggest they get in touch so as to be included in any provision 2/ If you've got ?3K and are prepared to buy a 100 O14 loco wheelsets please get in touch urgently Many of you may have your models on order with me in which case you are already on my mailing list for this My conversation with Richard revealed that this is very much his baby but that to produce it he is spending Dapols’ money and is subject to their oversight and that its not going to be a run away money spinner based on the presales. That view limits the expenditure on this project and will impact any future developments. This prompts my final thoughts which are no more than musings given that I am skint but if we want to demonstrate that there is a place for O14 perhaps the community should fund the wheelsets we need hence my rather tongue in cheek “anyone got three grand they don’t need” Paul Martin EDM Models

Martinhoe Cross needs a new home 10
Back in 2017 I acquired from Nick Brown his 14mm gauge 7mm scale model called Martinhoe Cross representing an impression of the L&B railway. I had plans to incorporate it into my model of Lynton but those plans have had to change. It has been in safe and secure dry storage and I now need to free up that space. I am looking for a new home for the layout and it will be free to anyone who is able to collect it – a large transit will be required. The model can be seen in edition 168 of the 7mm Narrow Gauge Association magazine. It is a looped circuit and fits into a space of 7 feet x 6 feet. It comes on a number of baseboards (but not supports) and all the track, scenery, buildings, bridges and wiring are in place. There are no as these were retained by Nick when I took possession. Please, only serious interest, it needs to go to a good home for someone, or a club, who will use it as intended or develop it further. Message me and I can supply details and answer any questions. Thanks, Cliff

7mm Scale Track Components 7
Thinking about 7mm scale track components for a 3ft narrow gauge project and after a wee look through the www I had a ding moment, S Scale standard gauge track components which I was happy to see would probably suit us. Unfortunately the S Scale Society only sell parts to their membership, I don't suppose we have a member of the S Scale Society on this forum, preferably but not essential who lives in Scotland willing to order some parts for me? Rhyd website revamped! 5
Hi All I am very pleased to say that I have finally updated the Rhyd website after all the hiatus of a house move, Covid and rebuilding the railway. The site has new sections, many new pages, galleries and photographs. There is now a scattering of videos and an insight into the everyday lives of the Rhyd folk. There is even a page highlighting the new stuff. The Sources page has been reinstated along with the facilty to e-mail me through the website- both had disappeared, I know not how.. Please visit, explore and enjoy www.rhyd.weebly.com -- David Website: www.rhyd.weebly.com

Baseboard staging 4
It is possible I'm only a week or two before I can get my PLR boards up in my loft. I have been exploring options which range from close to the original configuration or potentially splitting the big spiral/quarry section from the unfinished exchange sidings section. I would like to have the boards a bit higher than in the last loft. The last loft had fixed 2x1ins wooden staging but given the uncertainty I'd like to be able to play around with both height and configuration. I'd welcome suggestions on systems I could use - basically adjustable supports and long strong cross members that the boards can sit on (the big sections each have a common base height). John

Help to wire a reed switch magnet cam on a Zimo MS450 #photo-notice
Hi all. It’s a long time since I fitted a magnet cam, usually relying in the virtual cam function. I now have a new MS450 decoder and the instructions seem to contradict. The wiring diagram states top right pad, ‘switch input (IN1, cam sensor)’. IN3 is next one down. Then later in the manual it states ‘ 3 is usually reserved for a cam sensor input’. So, anyone know which to use? Cheers Paul

Narrow Gauge South - Saturday 23rd April 3
Less than 2 weeks to go and there is now a downloadable pdf show guide: https://s3.amazonaws.com/onecom.web.filestore/Downloads/NGS_2022.pdf Some great layouts including Twa Dale Estates and my own Tony's Forest in 014. Over 50 stands spread across the main hall and a few classrooms. You will find me in one of the classrooms along with the 7mm NGA sales. We asked to be together as we were both unsure how much help we might be able to get and we can keep an eye on each other's stand if necessary. Cheers, Robin
