Re: Baseboard staging
Thanks Robin. The aluminium sections sound a great idea.?Having heaved several 4.5m+ lengths of 220mm X 45mm timber up there in the last few weeks these would be a doddle.
What I want to do is play around with the 2 or 3 sections (each of several boards) trying various heights and location. I've got a couple of steel trestles and can probably borrow some more. Once I've decided on a config I may make timber supports. John |
Re: Baseboard staging
开云体育Hopefully these two photos add a bit of context to my description.? To make transport easier for the aluminium sections they are left plain and I rely on crude carpentry/gaffa tape to locate them on the trestles.? You could probably come up with something more elegant for a semi-permanent installation. ? My plastic trestles were a bit low so I didn’t use the notches to locate the aluminium and used a simple wooden attachment to gain a bit of height. ? ? Cheers, Robin ? I adopted Trevor Hughes’ idea from his “Crowsnest” exhibition layout for my own exhibition layout and while I know your application is fixed, some of the ideas might give food for thought. ? I have two trestles with two 2.4m lengths of 100mm x 25mm aluminium hollow square section bar that span the trestles and support the boards.? Up until recently I used two steel height adjustable trestles but for the last couple of shows I have switched to lighter plastic trestles.? They are not adjustable as I have never used that function but they are lighter and don’t make as much noise in car during transport! ? At the last show someone remarked “aluminium? What a good idea and it’s probably cheaper than timber now”.? I think you could get quite large spans and the limiting aspect may well prove to be access.? It could be difficult getting more than about a 3m length into your house but you wouldn’t need as many upright supports.? Height adjustable trestles might work but you might prefer some purpose built wooden supports.? However, with fewer supports it might be easier to increase the height of each one. ? It is a shame I am just a bit too far away as you would be welcome to try my metal trestles and aluminium bar to experiment with height. ? Cheers, Robin ? |

The last loft had fixed 2x1ins wooden staging but given the uncertainty I'd like to be able to play around with? both height and configuration. I'd welcome suggestions on systems I could use - basically adjustable supports and long strong cross members that the boards can sit on (the big sections each have a common base height). John |

开云体育Hi, ? Is it the bit with the hole in? ? On the fret there is 3 holes at each end, which folds on its self twice. So the end bit is triple thickness (That’s what my instruction imply) ? Dave ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of jogil476 via groups.io

Help to wire a reed switch magnet cam on a Zimo MS450
#photo-notice
Hi all.? It’s a long time since I fitted a magnet cam, usually relying in the virtual cam function. I now have a new MS450 decoder and the instructions seem to contradict. The wiring diagram states top right pad, ‘switch input (IN1, cam sensor)’. ?IN3 is next one down. Then later in the manual it states ‘ 3 is usually reserved for a cam sensor input’.? So, anyone know which to use?? Cheers |

开云体育Thanks Duncan, I’m looking forward to seeing Twa Dale Estates ‘in the flesh’. ? Cheers, ? Robin ? |
Re: Narrow Gauge South - Saturday 23rd April
Folks
Twa Dale Estates is in the same block of layouts as Tony's forest. Robin if you need a hand, happy to pool resources. I am seriously considering re homing Twa Dale, loath to part with it but the 'new' layout takes up all my space. So if any one is interested please let me know. Regards. Duncan |
Narrow Gauge South - Saturday 23rd April
Less than 2 weeks to go and there is now a downloadable pdf show guide:
Some great layouts including Twa Dale Estates and my own Tony's Forest in 014. Over 50 stands spread across the main hall and a few classrooms. You will find me in one of the classrooms along with the 7mm NGA sales. We asked to be together as we were both unsure how much help we might be able to get and we can keep an eye on each other's stand if necessary. Cheers, Robin |
