By sheer coincidence my Ruston's motor disintegrated while this thread has been going on.? Although I am a fan of the BullAnt I was thinking of just replacing the old motor with something a tad larger.
Can you recall which motor you used and were there any pitfalls of which I should be aware?
The loco will only run with light loads, in the order of 3 skips, but it is a long way from one end of the layout to the other!

My experiences:

The Ruston kit supplied power chassis, works OK. However, the motor is very
small, and I found the wheels could have been better. My plan to replace the
mechanism addressed both these issues, with a much larger, more powerful motor,
and very high quality (Nickel Silver – I think?) wheels.

I do operate at least one Ruston with the original wheels, however the
motor has been upgraded, and this Ruston still has all its cab interior
intact.
