Here you go im going to give you all the combo and easiest way to do packet vhf or hf.you need a sound modem .signal link or rigblaster any thing you can find that creates two virtual comports. Enhanced and standard.A FT 991 A has it built in easiest to make this happen These comm. Ports are needed to configure the software im? turning you on to. WINTNC V 2.10 and UZ&HO Sound modem ver 114????????? ????????????????????? Re: UZ7HO Question
开云体育Good questions, i will need to do some reseach, i still run a club packet node that uses ?a sopra callsign….. ve3pkg.The ham that took all the calls from the sk gave our club use of the sopra callsign as we were trying to rebuild the network…… Bob On Jan 15, 2025, at 8:25?PM, Chris Lance WW2BSA <Ww2bsa@...> wrote:

Oh, I think I understand...
SOPRA is still VE3CON, but I have it pinned to John's VE3NEC QTH who is SK. So...where should I pin VE3CON to? What is SOPRA QTH?

Re: UZ7HO Question
开云体育Yes SOPRA, ?the location where ve3con used to belong to John Langtry (ve3nec).So John passed a few years ago and his place was sold, all the antennas came down. The map i saw still had the ve3con at his old qrh. Bob On Jan 15, 2025, at 7:44?PM, Chris Lance WW2BSA <Ww2bsa@...> wrote:

Re: HF packet data rates
Hi Michael and welcome to the group.
?
My knowledge is limited, but let's first make sure the TNC is working.
Hook up your MFJ TNC (what model???) to your computer.
Download and run PuTTY (there is a 32 and 64 bit version)
See if you can establish communications with the TNC first.
Depending if your computer has a USB or DB9 serial port, you'll need to determine the com port number by going into Windows Control Panel - Hardware (assuming you're running windows)?
?
Let's start there. But email me some info - TNC model, type of computer and exactly what you want to do.
?
I'm at ww2bsa@...
?
Also, check out for more info on HF packet on 14.105.

Re: UZ7HO Question
Hi Larry, I updated your QTH on the packet map.
Please share what you are running on VHF and/or HF packet, frequencies, -SSID, nodes, BBS, keyboard-to-keyboard, F/t or P/T.
Tnx es 73 de Chris ww2bsa.org

Re: UZ7HO Question
Hi Bob,
?
Thanks for the info. But, when I do a QRZ search that calls back to a club, the Southern Ontario Packet Radio Association. While the link on QRZ is invalid, the Association has a Facebook page:?
?
Do you know the name of the SK ham?

Re: HF packet data rates
Hi Mark,
So Dire Wolf is the Most likely software to use with My MFJ Modems? Would that be correct?
I will try and locate DireWolf software as I don't know the others you mention but I know of Dire Wolf a little.
Maybe the others you mention are better. I would certainly like to get receive working quickly. Please advise.
thank you Mike vk4sy vk3xz |
Re: HF packet data rates
Hi Mike,
Thank you Kindly for the offer. I have not tried VARAC but I am very keen to try it. I wonder what Output Power
would ne required on 10 Meters to be successful? I have 400 watts Legal Limit available but usually use 20-30 watts on FT8,
But find FT8 an anti-social Mode. I have an End fed on 10-80 at 15 Meters(50 feet)? on a 2 Acre Block of Land. 2 15 Meter Telescoping Towers 6M beam 2M ground plane, dual Band Satellite Yagi 2m 70cm. I do sstv on ISS and HF. I have many digital Interfaces, 2 FTDX transceivers, 2Yaesu FT8900 Transceivers(fm), Transverter with Elad FDM Duo * 2.? I have some experience but enjoy RagChew. Thanks for any Guidance Mike B vk4sy Woodhill Queensland 4285 Australia |
Re: HF packet data rates
Wow. That's an expensive radio to dedicate to packet. But it's simple really.? Does the rig have a built in sound card? If so the configure your direwolf to talk to it. Tune to the relevant frequency and then listen for data. You will see received packets on the direwolf screen. Now you need software. Direwolf is just a modem. Once you have that working you will need to connect some software to it. Winlink is one. BPQ is another. Even JNOS would work. But until you connect the software to the modem the received data is useless. Mark NI2O On Wed, Jan 15, 2025, 17:10 Michael Boudreaux VE3XZ via <vk3xz=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: HF packet data rates
开云体育Well, if you like rag-chewing you can come up to 10M. We've got Packet, RPR, VARAC, FreeData and APRS. We're getting the most use out of the frequency we can. (28.148USB dial)73 de n5pwp Mike On 1/15/2025 4:54 PM, Michael Boudreaux

what is your plan to run a node or just connect to nodes and people using rf?
?
will you be doing vhf packet or HF packet, i am just running 300 baud on HF.
?
