Hi,
Wondering if I can find a few people to connect to.
I live on PEI and no idea who to connect to.
My??radio is set up well (No ALC).
I am running 100 watts into a low slung windom.
Will be getting a vertical soon.
Currently am on 14.105 lsb and? using 1600/1800 hz tone pair.
I have played with all sorts of software on vhf packet and hf packet. Direwolf being the latest. Also used Soundmodem. And of course HRD.

Re: Noise on Frequency
If I am not mistaken (I do not use it) VARAC is typically rather narrow at 500Hz so even with tight narrow filters a nearby VARAC will certainly result in QRM.
I think it worth noting though that most but certainly not all Winlink use of VARA on HF can with decent signal paths be quite wide at nearly 3k Hz and if you check as Julian suggested you will likely find a bunch jammed around both the NET105 and the NET40 freqs... and at upwards of 3k Hz wide it can be nearly impossible to avoid the Winlink QRM when several are active simultaneously on either side of the ax25 freqs. 73 de Rich WA3WLH |
Re: Noise on Frequency
Hi all. Varac uses 14105 USB as a calling Freq, beacons etc. The problem is with the QSO channels, those are +- and I am pretty sure the lower ones hit the Net105 QRG. When operating varac, not very often though, I always use the upper channels for QSYing.
And, again, you have got the Winlink frequencies. Worth checking those on the respective website. There might be some new stns emerging in your area etc. M0 IPU -9/15 YO3 FCA mobile.? |

Just a heads up. VarAC also utilizes 7.105 as well as 3.590, 10.13, 18.105, 21.105, 24.905, and 28.105. Now, with all that said, I rarely? hear any Vara traffic (at least via VarAC) on anything other than the 20m and 40m "channels".? And also, packet and Vara don't really conflict much. I've seen Olivia being used right on top of a Vara QSO and it didn't seem to have any issues at all.? You might try it sometime and see how it goes. You know.. it's easier to say 'oops, sorry' than 'may I?'? ![]() ![]() Wayne Carpenter 73 from KN2Z
